Heard he fell due to medical concerns. I'd of rather just took him than traded up for Julius Thomas. I am not sure if that pick is going to pan out. Biggest risk we've had, but hey, we needed a tight end. Green was a third or fourth round guy!

Any idea what the medical concern was/is? I like this guy a lot and thought he was a steal in the 7th.

I was surprised he fell that far. I saw some people projecting him as a 4th or early 5th rounder.

He had micro fracture surgery and had some fluid build up in his knee after he worked out at the combine.

a great pick up in the 7th round(heck he'd have been a great one in the 4th)
i like the potential talent combo of him and Thomas at TE. hopefully they can become a nice tandem that provides severe match up problems for the opposing D.

Finally - not one but two pass catching tight ends.

Let's hope at least one of them pans out.

getting Green in the 7th is huge. He can be an immediate impact player on offense and Xanders mentioned that he has FB potential too.

The upside to both sounds great.

Thomas is an ex basketball player, ala Gates. That gives images of something great. His one big downside is he can't block AT ALL or I should say has no talent there at all.

Green could/would have gone higher except for the injury, which is something some of us didn't want Bowers for. But even with the swelling at the combine, he did a great job. I'm excited about boths potential.

And isn't this the guy, who in his off time, likes to read the Bible? Tebow and him should have an instant connection!

There's a big difference between a medical flier in the 7th round compared to one in the 2nd.

Thomas is actually a pretty good blocker. If you go to youtube and look up his highlights, you'll see for yourself...the kid can block. Also, take a peak at his combine workout...he has terrific hands.

I think Thomas actually looks more fluid on the football field than Green, and he plays with an attitude...ala Shannon Sharpe.

Green was a steal in the 7th and has plenty of upside....but, I can see why the Broncos traded up to get Thomas ahead of him.

Still a great gamble in the 7th. Worst case scenario, we have to staff him on IR for a year. Could pay off down the road, if not immediately.

That's a bad sign. Actually, then that's a wasted pick.

Its a very reasonable risk in the 7th round. If he has a few really solid years then it was a great pickup. Its a way lower risk, yet just as high of a reward as the Bowers pick by TB.

Baptists and Jehovah's Witnesses read the bible, too. But you will never see them together doing it.

Totally. A tight end with 5th round talent could have just as high a ceiling as a DE with #1 overall talent. Makes perfect sense.

the point was that the value on both is about the same if they pan out.
Green was a 4th to 5th round prospect who fell to the 7th. his potential is very high and if it pans out he was a steal. but he's also less risky than spending a two on Bowers. according to reports he will definitely have to have a surgery that will shelve him for 8 months within the next few years.

the Broncos can't afford to risk missing on a top 3 round guy right now. no matter the potential and talent level. they had to land guys who would start and contribute and they likely did that.

C'mon man. Dude has microfracture surgery then fluid on the knee before he's even drafted, that's a wasted pick. Fluid on the knee after surgery is always a bust. They should have taken somebody healthy, anybody.

The injury is a few years old, isnt it? He is a 7th round pick. Lots of reward, minimal risk.

it's 2-3 years old at least i believe. it's all about developing his talent now.
