Default 2011 NFL Mock Draft: Marcell Dareus Is The Fan Pick For The Broncos

2011 NFL Mock Draft: Marcell Dareus Is The Fan Pick For The Broncos

With less than two weeks to go until the 2011 NFL Draft, mock drafts aren't going to change all that much. There will be a select group of players who will be selected in the top five picks and then so on for the next level of the first round. And it appears that the fans also have a pretty good handle on whom the Broncos should draft on April 28 with the No. 2 overall pick.

SB Nation joined with Valvoline to have a fan contest for predicting the first round. So if you want to win two customized jerseys and two tickets to your team's home opener (well, if there is a home opener in the fall), then go and make your predictions in the SB Nation/Valvoline Draft Contest.

According to early results, Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus is the top vote-getter for the Broncos' No. 2 overall pick. LSU cornerback comes in second, but Dareus has double Peterson's vote total. As has been repeated for several weeks, Dareus makes sense and is a safe pick. The Broncos need help on the defensive line, especially to stop the run. Dareus would be an anchor on the Broncos' return to the 4-3 front.

Apparently one vote for the No. 2 selection went to Wisconsin TE Lance Kendricks. Yeah, I don't know what happened there. Maybe the person was ranking their favorite players in the draft, the person being a student at 'Sconsin? Or just doing it for laughs?

if the Broncos can't trade down, he's the best pick for the Broncos, just take him and start concentrating on the next pick or whatever other draft strategy the front office feels is important.

Dareus really needs to be a game changer at the #2 pick and not just some guy who can play every position on the line. Versatility is nice but it's no substitute for impact.
