Thank God Dinosaur Jr. is back together and touring on a super strong new release....I wanna catch that show so bad, you just don't know.
I think the semi-acoustic album howl is pretty cool hogan. It's actually one of my all time favs, foreal foreal.

Cult of Ray is a fine album, and I certainly would not begrudge a Black fan of that preference. I like Teenager of the Year because, as you said, it his most creative, and also his most daring in terms of the lyrical/musical smorgasbord.

I love the job Lyle Workman does on that album. He's a very underrated player.
No doubt. His playing has a lyrical quality that makes me think of a more economical Dave Gilmour (if that makes sense).

If you could capture Black in what he would prefer to be known for, I think that some of those songs are on Teenager of the Year.

Well...I wouldnt say Gilmour. He's more like a delightfully sloppy Nashville player.

I think so, too. He perfected his power pop vision on that record, I believe.

I see what you mean. I only meant Gilmour in the most economical sense. Gilmour was a truly lyrical player, and I think you get that from Workman.

I heard some very good things about it, but I haven't got around to checking it out yet....I will eventually.

As I said, I'm a bit too wrapped up in Dinosaur Jr.'s Beyond at the moment.

I always liked the post Barlow Jr. better and never was a fan of Sebadoh...so I was somewhat skeptical of it, but when I heard it, it corrected me in a hurry.

For those Pixies and Frank Black fans out there, I found some interesting stuff on youtube. Charles is writing songs as "Black Francis" again, and the new tunes sound much more lifelike than his recent incarnations. I'm finally excited for some new FB stuff again. Maybe the Pixies tours got the juices flowing again.

Here's a nice piece: "Dont Get Me Wrong"

Hogan will love this ... "Chicago Transit Authority." The version with both the original re-mastered mono, and the synthesized stereo version.

Terry Kath is the most underrated guitar player ever. Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitar player - that's all you need to know.

It's a solid release, although Chicago II is better IMHO.....they never did top that one.

James William Guercio should be strung up by his tongue for the production job he did on those Chicago releases.....remastering can't even save them from his heavy handed, muddy techniques

Dark Side of the Moon, in my opinion, the greatest album of all time.

Great album to be sure, but I don't even think it's the greatest Floyd album, let alone greatest album of all-time. That distinction goes to Animals, IMHO.

I just spun McCartney's "all the best".

Every time I listen to Paul, his position as the greatest rock songwriter in history is further cemented. The dude is brilliant.

Whodat? Wit da Mexican Strat?

I dunno 'bout you LA, but I prefer rosewood (or at least non-maple) fingerboards. Why do you want a fingerboard to be slick?

Tommy Bolin ... man, been awhile. Lotta power there. Died in a car wreck?

That's not a Mexican Strat - it's a custom job by John Suhr. (Costs about the same as 10 Mexican Strats.)

And that's L.A. studio kingpin Michael Landau.

I'm a rosewood man too, but maple is nice when a brighter sound is called for.

Heroin overdose in '76. What a waste, huh?
