Whoa....now there's a name I never expected to see on this thread.

You ever check out any Throbbing Gristle or Psychic TV Josh? I find that industrial/no wave/Avant G stuff interesting to say the least.....you can clear a room in record time with it

Yeah i used to listen to throbbing gristle, but was too young/ignorant to actually 'get it'. I bought a psychic TV album "hollow cost".....

it's def. not for everyone....

Well the funny thing hogan, was i listened to throbbing gristle - and didn't really know "who" G.P-O was - about a year and a half ago i got this Disinfo DVD disc (www.disinfo.com) - and they had Genisis right there talking about some things - i guess at the point i'm at now - it all makes sense.

I view psychic TV as a metaprogramming/deprogramming piece of art.

But you definitley have to know what you are doing to make it not only 'sound' like it makes sense - but to actually create it was way further than i anticipated along a much more difficult cliff. Audio Art is much harder to make than just a song.

Very few can do it.

PS - i picked up a John Spencer disc and shared it with a girl. She loved it. We then drank whiskey sours till morning listening to a rotation of blues & rock with Spencer being the highlight. She asked me "how can you listen to stuff like Psychic TV and then this".... I told her the secret is in the sour mix.

Jon Spencer is one of the coolest guys I've ever met. It surprised me that he's really very soft spoken off stage. I got a pic taken with him when I caught Heavy Trash at a festival I went to a couple of weeks back....problem is, I still have to take a few before I can get it developed.

I know what you're thinking...A cheap, disposable flash camera? Well, a digital isn't really advised when you're trying to take pics amongst people doing this:

Rock critics have been gushing about this record, but it did not do much for me on the first listen. With that said, some great records require repeat listenings and a bit of patience. I'll have to get back with you on the final verdict.

Have you listened to any of TVOTR albums? I'd only heard a few of their songs before this album, but I like it a lot. It might be a bit of grower, though.
