BTW, Nuggets4, just a little heads-up on a release coming up in October:

Quote:
Scott Kinsey will release his solo CD on Abstract Logix on October 16th, 2006. The CD features Steve Tavaglione, Arto Tuncboyaciyan, Cyril Atef, Michael Landau, Scott Henderson, Vinnie Colaiuta, Alex Acuņa, Abraham Laboriel Sr. and many others.

Caliuata and Acuna? VERY cool. You know, I know TONS about Laboriel, Jr., but very little about Laboriel, Sr.. I need to check out some of his recordings.

And yes, that was a very blatant attempt to get you to tell me what the best recordings he's done are.

Abraham Laboriel Sr. is one of the baddest bass players I've ever heard. He can go from swinging hard in a pocket to blowing you away with his jaw-dropping, polyphonic funk/slap chops in a split second. When he solos, it's like listening to a one-man bass orchestra.

Check out these two double live CDs:

I agree with this...matter of fact, I was huge on Eno up till Before And After Science....after that, he seemed to lose his pop sensibilities and dived headon into that ambient stuff (or as I used to call it, music to sleep to).

How's it sound? Is it up to par with Time Out of Mind and Love and Theft?

Yes. Bob is three for three in his last releases. He hasn't showed consistent quality like this since the 60's.

Excellent. I was hoping he'd keep the streak going.

Picked up the Heavy Trash cd after last night's show when they were backed by The Sadies....it reaffirmed what I already knew, namely:

A) Jon Spencer is, without question, one of the coolest guys on the face of the Earth. If you miss The Blues Explosion, this will more than make up for it.

B) The Sadies are Canada's greatest band, bar none. Very versitile, very eclectic, extremely talented and very, very ugly....throw Matt Verta-Ray into the mix and they are nothing short of leathal.

I don't actually have this one as it won't be released for a couple of months, but I just heard "Beware the Water" from the Deftones new album and I am completely hooked.

I'm probably alone in the 'liking the Deftones' category.

The Deftones have some great stuff. Change (in the house of Flies) was a great tune.
