Default Holy Crap! Brian Bromberg Is Good!!!

Jazzheads: WOOD (This is the CD's name)
Brian Bromberg takes a 300 year old Italian standup bass and just shreds some very old standards but his playing makes it all worthwhile. What he does to make intriguing is hard to describe. He definitely picks up the pace so if Jazz is not really your thing this is a cool piece to have just for fun. He does some stuff on there that is just amazing.

Hard Rockers: METAL (This is the CD's name)
There are no lyric so it doesn't qualify as heavy metal but this guy plays a piccolo bass like you've never heard. There are NO guitars on this CD. None...but if you didn't read the label you would want to know how exactly he was tearing up on those "guitar solos". If you like Joe Satriani, Robin Trower, Jaco Pastorious, or just boogie woogie blues. It's really hard not to raise the roof for this guy.

If you like bass playing this guy should be in your music library.

All I've been listening to for the last couple of weeks are the bands I just saw live -- The Sounds, Morningwood, Action Action

These are the two mainly in mine right now. they came out within three weeks of each other, which would explain the level of work on them

if your a rap fan i encourage you to pick up Da Backwudz- Woodwork. they had that song out like a year ago called Your Gonna Love Me, and they have that new one out called I Dont Like the Look of it, which samples the oompa loompas. IT reminds me of old school outkast mixed with a little bit of the Dungeon Family and Nappy Roots mixed in (if you know who they are). But i definitly recomend this to any rap fan, and even if your not youll recognize a few of the samples they use. Plus George Clintons on it.

It's The Strokes filtered thru Franz Ferdinand....good stuff if you like such things but be advised, it's getting "Band killing" hype out of the UK.....so much so that NME (or I think it was anyways) listed their album as #5 on the all time best to ever come out of Great Britian list recently. That's #5 all time.....I'm here to tell you that, while it is a very good, solid disc, no way in hell does it rate that high.

Yeah, I saw that ****. It is a solid disc, no doubt, but 5th best of all-time out of GB?? Please.

The British get a lot of things right musically.....but they tend to get just as many things wrong when it comes to the "next big thing" and the hype they bestow upon bands can be a kiss of death.....just ask former members of The Stone Roses, for example.

The Arctic Monkeys are very good bordering upon great.....actually, I'd kill to be part of a band like that..but to give them the acclaim they've been receiving is not only unjustified, but it almost seems like a blatent attempt to destroy them just as they're getting started.

Yeah, the British hype machine is notorious. Everytime "the next big thing" comes around, they quickly throw up a revised "All Time" list. The Strokes' Is This It? was placed at #7 all time before it was officially released. Oasis, The Stone Roses...the most egregious example involves The Coral. A band with heavy psycedelic influences (Donovan, Syd Barrett, etc), their debut was put at #13 on one of those lists. The record was fair, at best. Certainly uneven. With that said, British pop music fans have far superior taste than the average American pop music fan.

Damn fine recomendation. I just bought it, some of the best vocals on a rap album i've heard in a while.

The whole cd is actually pretty good. I liked The world could be yours, fantastic, whatcha know about my life...

That smoke and ride song is a perfect song to play when you're gettin down wit your lady
