I remember Black 47 B ("Funky Kaylee" (sic) right?).

F Molly is pretty cool stuff, thanks for the intro B I'm very impressed and will be picking up some of this ASAP.....I still think it's like if The Pogues were filtered thru The Dropkick Murphys.....and there's nothing wrong with that at all.

You've got to be kidding me.

And IMO posting two videos at once is not only rude but creates one hellish noise that only does a disservice to both

Meantime- Helmet

I read and heard a lot about them being a pretty influential band for alt rock.

Weird thing is as a person growing in an era where Alternative music was starting pick its speed up, I never heard of any of Helmet's songs. So I decided to picked up their CD.

Gonna give the CD a go soon.

They were a bit too metal for my liking if I remember them correctly, but Meantime was playing all over the place for a time.

Didn't Betty kill their career? I remember a lot of people being unhappy with that release, although I can honestly say I never heard it outside of maybe one or two songs.

I thought Betty was a good CD. Wilma's Rainbow was the best song on the CD. I also like Aftertaste and their newest one size matters. This one had Frankie B from Anthrax (after he left them and before he went back to the New/Old Anthrax)....They don't get a lot of radio play since they don't make radio friendly songs, they just have great riffs and good vocals that for some reason never caught on....

A quick Overview of the Meantime CD.

It's mean, lean, and raw if that makes sense, but it lacks variety in terms of sound. It's a pretty straightward CD.

But I could see that it was very influential to rock music these days. I see Korn take a lot of credit for that, but I think it's more of Helmet's influence more than anything else.

God wtf is that sound?

Listening to Morphine: "The Night"

The last track "Take Me With You" is haunting and eerie. I love Morphine, but it's hard to listen to that song. Mark is beyond depression and the despair shows. Good art portrays an emotional condition amongst other things, and Mark does that well...but he has obviously lost hope by this point and it is really sad.

It is hard to describe and not take credit away from them. It's almost like a refined garage band jam....

I prefer Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but Ghost is great. Summerteeth is also a great CD for Wilco fans.

Iced Earth--The Glorious Burden

Ripper's still underrated, IMO, but not their best in terms of song quality.

Ripper is VERY underrated but trying to follow in Rob's footsteps will overshadow for quite some time.

Excellent band.

I'm surprised at the lack of commercial success though.

I'm not. They're excellent musicians, but they're not really "up" enough for popular radio. They're not rock enough for alternative radio. They're kind of folk-country, which doesn't really hit the major markets. Too bad because they are a great band. Put on a hell of a live show too.

They quite often times make stunning music for me.

I'm on the process of getting all their albums, but I thought Yankee Hotel definitely had some potential for the commercial market especially with Jesus Etc(How I found out about them). But I haven't listened to the Radio for awhile so I wouldn't know what's pop music today.

By the way Amesj, that album was pretty surreal to me. Wide range of sound and great production too.
