Just picked up a copy of "Nouveau Flamenco" from Ottmar Liebert today and it'll be getting some serious spin time. For those of you who are familliar with Jesse Cook, you'll probably also like this guy.

I saw Ottmar in concert in Boulder's Chataqua Theater a few years ago... he was pretty good. I kinda dig that flamenco guitar... pretty good stuff...

I dont, but then I never really conisdered Sublime neo-ska or any ska. More like carribbean/reggae/buffett music. I dont like the punk ska, like Goldfinger. Bleh. Punk sucks worse than rap and rap is truly a crappy form of noise.

If you like Liebert, check out Paco de Lucia's album "Cositas Buenas". I was blessed with doing promotions for that album. It's incredible. He came to the Boulder Theatre to perform as well and it was like a rock concert. Just pure energy.

Late to the game, but in my cd player right now (really in high rotation on my iPod, but same thing as I BUY ALL CD'S!):

* Jimmy Eat World - "Futures"
* The Beatles - "Revolver"
* The Beatles - "Magical Mystery Tour"
* Usher - "Confessions"
* William Shatner - "Has Been"
* Miles Davis - "The Complete 1964 Concert - 'Four & More' and 'My Funny Valentine'"

Get it, get it, get it NOW! Writing wise, I'd put it above "Pet Sounds". I know that's almost blasphemy to some people, but it's REALLY good. Brian doesn't have the vocals anymore though. His backing band is pretty damn good however. 4.5 stars out of 5 IMO. God, this is another one I've been listening to a lot lately.

Oh yeah. I'm quite familliar with Paco de Lucia. "Friday Night in San Francisco" (1981) with Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin is one of my all time favorite discs. I wasn't aware he has a new disc out though. I'll definately have to check it out.

Miles is cool and all, but I am much more of a Dizzy Gilespie, Coltrane and Charlie Parker fan. The Bird is freakin' unbelievable, Dizzie can play anything, in any style and brought the cuban beat to Jazz, and Coltrane, is, well, Coltrane. There is some absolute great stuff between those three.

You should enjoy it. I think we got it to #1 on the CMJ-World chart without much effort. I love those albums, they promote themselves.

I'll play

Mighty Mighty Bosstones - "Devil's Night Out"
Jason Mraz - Live at Schuba's Tavern 2003
Wu-Tang Clan -"Wu-Tang Forever" Disc 1
De La Soul - "3 Feet High and Rising"
APC - "Motive"

and in the CD player next to the bed, for the ladies...Miles Davis "Kind of Blue", which I've seen has been mentioned here a few times already.
