That's cool stuff....I'm a huge fan of the Mississippi Hill country stuff......Burnside & Kimbrough especially....but I can't handle Burnside trying to mix his brand of blues in with hip hop...it's an insane idea that reeks of a cash grab and it just plain doesn't work....that's why, as great as R.L. is, everything that isn't acoustic recorded after Mr. Wizard is unfortunately spotty.

I certainly wouldn't make the claim that JM has influenced popular culture to the same extent as BD. Joni's music has usually transcended the culture, as David Crosby put it.

You should get it. ITs a really different album from their previous albums. Some long compositions too. Good album.

No doubt, Dylan's fundamentalist Christian phase was at best bizarre and at worst bad material. What do you think of Dylan's last two albumns, his renaissance albumns IMHO? I think Time Out of Mind is one of his grandest achievements, right up in the same stratosphere with Blonde on Blone and Blood on the Tracks. Songs like "Not Dark Yet" and "Tryin' to Get to Heaven (this may not be the right title but I think you'll know which song I mean)" are beautiful documents on aging and dying. I absolutely love that albumn. Love and Theft isn't as brilliant, but is very charming and definately deserves a place among the second tier of his albumns. Your opinion?

I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't heard his last couple of releases....but I am aware of the stellar reviews they garnered...I'll get to them eventually.

I don't know....cash is short at the moment and Nonesuch doesn't send me advanced copies of anything....the hype is huge...whether or not it supasses Pet Sounds or Sgt. Pepper's as some claim, remains to be seen IMO.

It drove Wilson nuts, so it has to be at least interesting....just looking for opinions from those who have heard it.

As a collector, downloading doesn't do much for the collection.

As for the promos...get into radio or get something published, then they come to you.

hmmm I may make it a goal to get some hip hop promos.

yeah I used to spend all my money on CD's and have a nice collection but as my favorite genra of music (hip hop) has gotten pretty stale I only buy 5-10 CD's a year and Download 50+ and cut them down to the songs I care for.

This right here is the Joint. Mos Def "The New Danger" this CD is simular to Andre 3000's "The Love Below" not typical Hip Hop Mos Def does his fair share of singing on the CD and the Production has lots of Rock type Guitar.

In Flames "soundtrack to your escape"
