Un-freaking-believable. My favorite artist (among my top 3 anyway), and the one I spent numerous posts pimping in this thread barely a week ago, was appearing two nights in a row that very week. Further, she just five weeks earlier released Watershed, her first all-original album a nine years. Had I not moved dwntown, I wouldn't have known any of this ....

Both shows were A-FREAKING-STONISHING! I sat 12th row night 1, 6th row balcony night two ... and I dropped 60 bucks in the lobby for two CDs and her "Live by Request" DVD. I don't care what you low-brows in this thread think ... she is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Her voice AND her music.

(Bonus points for anybody who can identify the shirt I had on when I snapped the pics)

Wait a minute? K.D Lang is your favorite artist? Buff!!!! You need to get out more. How the hell did this happen? Can someone explain this to me?

I have kind of wide-ranging taste ... but yes, kd lang is the best. As good a singer as Bono I think, and that's saying something, cause in my view Bono channels God when he sings.

This Watershed album is moodier and more mellow than she's done before, but still a major piece of personal, emotive art.

If you confuse those two artists, you're a lost cause ...

How about this ... I have "One" by Metallica and "Fly to the Angels" by Slaughter on my iPod. Is that any better?

I went to the 717 awards and saw this band:

http://www.myspace.com/hierosonic

I've seen them twice and they pack a few hundred people in a venue.

Cool ... they sound kinda like NIN...a bit more melodic though.

FIXED

One for Anubis ... bluesey and powerful. Don't like her music? Fine. But you gotta dig them pipes yo.

The Three O'Clock

Saw them open for R.E.M. on that band's Fables tour in 1985. They were okay for a neo-60's mid 80's band, although the vocalist could get a bit irritating at times (the effeminent voice I'm talking about here)

Here's their cover of the Easybeats "Sorry" featuring none other than Tom Hanks on keyboards

Not bad, Hogan.

It looks like a fun show.

They could use to break the monotony and could use a little bit of originality, but the last ska-ggae fad has slunk off into the past so I guess that it is "new" again.

Anyhow, it looks like a fun show.

They're from the third wave of ska...you could call them a holdover from then. It's all cult status now but no matter, it's still cool stuff.
It's curious that they chose the most "ska" track from "All Day" to promote ( One of only two...I would've perferred one of the more straight soul/reggae numbers myself) but it's all good...the disc is really solid.

The shows are always fun, it takes an act of God for me to miss them when they come around. They're great guys to hang out with as well. I recommend them without hesitation.
