Jim Lahey's Broncos Draft Value Board

[Requiem]

Hey!

This is Req's value board for the Broncos going into the draft. Will probably be a controversial board for people. I expect feedback and discussion. Ask questions if you have them. You'll probably notice some players aren't even named. Given our selections today, these would be the players I'd give preference to -- in order -- at our given selections. I did not project trade downs or accumulation of picks. Board is as goes. FEEL FREE TO POST YOUR OWN TOO.

Going on the philosophy that they want four starters with their first four picks. I would expect DL, LB, DB and OL to all get a selection. Perhaps safety is ignored and DL is double dipped because of the weak class. I think a good zone coverage corner would be considered somewhere later. Not necessarily how my overall board shakes up, but the best players for the Broncos.

Key word....Value.

There's too many athletic TEs that will be available in rounds 3 & 4 to waste 36 or even 46 on Rudolph.

Cameron, DJ, Green, Thomas....Not that far behind Rudolph.

I expect this draft to please me overall. I do expect plenty of defense but if they ignore safety yet AGAIN it will be my freak out point. Of course not as extensive a freak out I would have should they pick a WR.

There are so many holes on defense to fill. Regardless, I really want to see a safety picked sooner than later. I long for the days when there was talent roaming the defensive backfield. Therefore, if Moore is there and has the highest value at 46, I say go get him.

My dream draft....Trade back with Minny so they can take Gabbert at #2 for their 2nd and 4th this year and a conditional 1st or 2nd year.

I think Denver should be expecting much more than that if they're going to be dropping from #2 to #12.

Not really...If you go by the proverbial "chart" than hypothetically:

#2=2600

#12=1200
#43=470
#106=82

That leaves a deficit of 850 which is equivalent to #20. The condition could be something like if they are drafting in the top 10 next year, Denver gets their 2nd rounder. If they are drafting 11-32 we get their first.

Under that scenario...Denver gets their pick somewhere between 11 & 40 and could 'win' or 'lose' the chart value by about 400 points either way.

Besides, I wouldn't care a damn bit about losing some chart value if it meant a pick just outside the top 10, 4 out of the first 46 & 6 out of the first 106

if they go weird qb, te, rb or cb then i start rooting for the texans

This safety class sucks balls though. Normally I would agree with you, but there aren't really any safety draftees worth picking over what we have on the roster. If McBath can stay healthy, he is better than anything we could pick.
