Default Elway Autograph Question

I am an avid autograph/memorbilia collector and recently purchased a signed Elway 'stat' jersey from Big Bad sports Cards. It looks great, but it was advertised as having a John Elway Hologram AND JSA COA. It only has the hologram. I'm not familiar with the hologram but I usually tend to feel more comofortable with items that have a third party authenticator (JSA/PSA). The guy says I can return it but I don't want to have to go through the hassle unless I feel don't feel comofrtable that this is the real thing.

So I wanted some advice from fellow collectors. How much weight does an Elway Hologram hold?

Can you post a pic of the auto? The Holo never meant much to me. Not sure how hard it is to counterfiet them

One thing I will say, never buy an Elway auto unless it comes with a Mounted Memories Coa..... Thats who he signs for. That said, there are occasions where you can have an Elway auto that isnt through MM. I have a signed Jersey that I got from a show John was at in Edison NJ. That COA is through an authenticater that ran the show. If Im buying though, it has to be a MM COA

Agreed on the holo part. The auto looks consistent with other Elway autos I've seen/have.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Elway has an exclusive deal with MM anymore. I looked at their site and he isn't on it anymore.

Doesn't Elway not sign Broncos gear anymore?

I've got a signed super bowl football. One of I think 500. Got all the paperwork that authenticates it too. That worth anything?

Probably $10 but I will give you $20 for it.

Seller says he will refund. Not sure if I want to go through the hassle but I want to be sure this thing is legit. They got it from a private signing, as per all of their stuff. Ugh

Major red flag. You already know the seller fibbed about the authentication. Get a refund and look elsewhere, you don't want to be wondering if the thing is fake every time you look at it.

My wife made an order from the old Mile High Stadium store back in 1998 for my birthday. In the shipment at the bottom of the box was a picture of John vs the Bungles and it had his signature on it. It was just at the bottom of the box in no envelope, kind of like it either fell in there or they were just copies they had given out at a game and were giving away.

Did anyone else remember getting something like that or seeing it somewhere? It was a great picture so I framed it anyway but there was no card or anything with it and nothing on the packing list.

I bolded the key. If he is offering a refund, take him up on it. I have a bunch of signed Elway stuff. One of the things I have is a signed Stanford helmet. The signature doesn't look like the others. I'm pretty sure it's fake. I should just trash it, but I paid a lot for it. I just put it towards the ceiling, so no one focuses on it. It bugs me all the time, though. Eventually, I'll do something about it. I wish I had at the time. It came from a reputable dealer, and I know he would have taken it back, if I would have returned it in timely manner.

WHen I was 8 years old, I sent Elway a letter (it was like 2 pages) a picture of me in my hometown #7 football jersey and an Elway card

he sent it back with an autograph and a letter that said "Thanks for being a fan. We'll get that Super Bowl eventually"....awesome memory

the auto looks exactly like the one on the jersey

Lemme think on that one a minute...ummm...no.

It has to be worth at least a tank of gas.

I have an autograph from Mr. Elway on a bar coster (only thing I could get to sign at the time). It is nice to know it is authentic because I saw him sign it.

I'm taking the guy up on the refund. The auto looks legit, and it has the hologram, but ultimatley the key phrase is that it WILL bother me everytime I look at it. Not because it is real or isn't real, but because I don't have 100% conviction that it IS real and authenticated by a third party. On a side note, I'm still looking for this same jersey for a good price. I'm possibly going to win an auction on a Mickey Mantle ball from steiner acution. (that site is SO addicting. )

I have an Elway autographed rookie card. Autograph doesn't really look like the one above, and it's in ball-point pen.

I know it's authentic though, because he signed it for me at training camp in Greeley when I was like 12.

Probably my most valued possession.

I have an orange signed jersey. How much is that worth? Anyone? It's real.

I have an autographed orange Jersey that he made out "To Ryan, a diehard Bronco fan." So I know he signed it and the autograph looks the same as yours.

I have a napkin that David Treadwell signed for me. Anyone know what that's worth?

I'm thinking it's not good for more than about 35.
