Let's be frank here: Marcell Dareus and Marvin Austin are athletic freaks; especially Austin. 4.8 40 and 38 reps. Austin has all the tools in the world. Pair Dareus - who ran a sub 5.0 40 at 320 pounds - with Austin and the Broncos are set at DT for a while. Everyone keeps saying that this is the deepest dline draft in a while. We are weak at the position. Seems like a no-brainer.
Well, they lit up the 2011 NFL Combine’s 40-yard dash considering they’re all right around 300 pounds. Nick Fairley, expected by many to be the No. 1 pick in the 2011 draft, ran a 4.82 at 291 pounds, Marvin Austin topped him with a 4.8 at 309 pounds, and Marcell Dareus turned in a 4.96 at 319 pounds. Those are all unofficial times, of course, until everybody gets their runs in. Oh, and Austin benched 225 pounds 38 times, better than any offensive lineman was able to push this year and second-best overall. Just in case you thought he was only built for speed. Looks like Austin most certainly did not spend his vacation time sitting around the apartment making Rick Ross photoshops. Mike Mayock has called defensive line this draft class’ deepest position. Judging by some of these disgusting showings by enormous Southeastern defensive tackles, he’s probably right. He’s usually probably right anyway. http://atlanta.sbnation.com/georgia-...sh-nfl-combine |

Wow, looks like any teams who go up against these guys will have to think about removing some of the 40-step QB drops from their playbooks that week.

Marvin Austin? That's a new name, to me. Interesting. The Broncos are known to take people not really hyped by the media...

It would be awesome if we could get Dareus and Austin, we would be set on the line and could grab a LB S in FA or at 2b in the draft

How many fatties run 40 yards on Sunday?
Dareus' unofficial 1.66 10 yard dash, now that is exciting. |

i'd love to see the Broncos land Bowers and Austin in the draft. if not for the NCAA issues Austin would have likely been a top 10 projected guy in this draft.

Did anyone else see Paea bench 225 49 times the other day? Just unreal.
I'd love him with our first pick in the second round. |

Seems every player who benches the most at the combine does nothing of value in the NFL. I'm having trouble remembering who put up a lot of those and actually was any good.

Combine numbers get culled from about 2000 on because the S&C programs colleges offer has so dramatically changed but the real athletic freaks like Deon Sanders and Allen just showed up and performed on par with the elite in even today's over scrutinized, over prepared combine. A bunch of heavy lifters turned football players have been able to throw it up on the bench. Almost none of them had good football bodies due to comparatively short arms Paea has an NFL DT's body. The game tape shows a guy who has NFL level abilities on the football field. Throwing up an ungodly bench rep number just means he's also a strong SOB who likes to work out. |

Jake Long did very well, he is one guy I know of who has turned bench press into football success.

If we select Dareus with our first pick and Austin with one of our second picks that would be so AWESOME!!!

Definitely prefer Dareus over Fairley.
And want the interior DL over an end. This line needs the big beef. |

Don't feel too bad. Bowers also did 22. Same as Cutler. I don't like Bowers. Too many red flags.

Paea is really quick off the line and causes alot of fumbles if Taylor is gone by our first second pick I would have no problem with the Broncos taking him. Dareus paired with Paea, Taylor, Austin would be real nice to have
