It says the family understands the kid would die either way and just wanted to take the kid home until the end. How is that a death panel?

I don't completely understand why they wouldn't let him leave the hospital though.

The family doesnt trust the prognosis and wanted to seek help elsewhere.

So how about Jehova's Witnesses. Are they a death panel religion? They don't allow medical intervention; if you die it is God's will.

Although the couple has accepted their baby boy's inevitable death, they insisted that it occur peacefully at home and not by removing his breathing tube, which will cause him to choke since he can't swallow or breathe on his own. The parents asked for a tracheotomy, which would open up a direct airway through an incision in Joseph's trachea and make it possible to bring the baby home.

Not saying its right but at least quote the real reason they wanted to take their child home.

That's what I got as well. Maybe he read more to the story. From what I interpreted though, everyone had conceded though the family was just a little more reluctant to give up hope. The going home thing didn't seem to pertain though.

I live in London Ontario and you are wrong, these people know their child is in fact dead and the only reason the heart is still beating is that there is a machine pumping air into him.

They don't want a second oppinion, the only way the baby can be moved is by specialized medical transport that will accomodate a full respirator along with monitoring equipment.

If you want to see how a real death panel looks, go find someone who works for blue cross blue shield who evaluates health insurance claims.
