On Jan. 27, a listener who identified himself as "Al in Dadeville" and said he was an Alabama fan called into the Paul Finebaum Radio Network and said he poisoned two Toomer's Corner trees with Spike 80DH herbicide

I read he was pissed that some Auburn fans put a Cam Newton jersey on a stature of Bear Bryant or something...so he retaliated by killing two historic, century old oaks.
Big XII and Big Ten have some rabid fan-bases, but the SEC takes a backseat to nobody in the crazy sports fan department. |

What a dolt, he called into the radio and killed some historic trees over a stupid prank. I think he will be squeeling like a pig for at least a year given how rabid the south is about teams and tradition. He is facing 1 to 10

Updyke -- who might be forever known as "Toomer's Coroner" -- is a retired former Texas state trooper. He has a daughter named Crimson and a son named Bear, according to one of his ex-wives. His Facebook page includes a photo of him wearing a Crimson Tide hat and T-shirt. Allegedly, he even owns dogs named "Bammer" and "Bear."
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/column...ark&id=6132246 You would have thought a former state trooper would have at least been smart enough to not call into a radio show and announce his crime to the public. Or at least us an alias. What an idiot. |

I think when the trees finally die, Auburn should cut them down and turn them into a 2010 National Championship monument at their stadium. Maybe have their 2010 schedule and results carved into one, and the roster carved into the other one.
Or have the final scores of every win over Alabama carved into them. |

Didn't look at the photo too closely. It could be a mugshot, but it also looks like the kind of photo a high school takes of the janitor.

Has anybody heard the clip from the radio show he called in to? The hosts were a little shocked and said something to the effect, "Don't you know that's illegal?" and dude says, "Do I sound like I care? Roll damn tide."
Roll damn tide indeed. Seriously though, they're just some f'ing trees. Whoopty sheet. 130 years ago somebody planted them and started this stupid tradition and now these jackhole students can start their own tradition whether they want to play on trees or plant Jack's beanstalk. Christ, I bet there are idiots down there crying over this. They tp the things for celebration. Really? Idiots. Lastly, it's Alabama. They should do what they can to move away from the "tree" as any type of symbol down there. Roll damn tide. |

?? Even if you don't care about college football, this kinda crap has to garner some "Wow what a loser" sentiment. Unless of course you fill your child's soccer games with 4 letter volleys at the coach. |
