Default Anonymous hackers strike...

This is some crazy stuff. If these guys can get hacked like this, imagine what could happen if I as a private individual pissed them off. Makes me scared about some of the things I do online (banking and whatnot).

On Saturday, the Financial Times ran a story in which Barr said he had uncovered the identities of Anonymous members, and would reveal them at a security conference this week.

The day after the Financial Times piece came out, Barr’s online security began to crumble.

Five members of Anonymous brought down HBGary Federal’s website Sunday. Then they hacked into Barr’s Twitter account — @aaronbarr — and posted his home address, cell-phone and Social Security numbers and a stream of fake and offensive messages.

They also stole 50,000 of Barr’s personal e-mails — now linked to from his Twitter page — as well as his company’s financial records. A Forbes magazine report said Anonymous was planning to erase data on HBGary Federal's servers.

The digital smack-down continued: Anonymous’ foot soldiers went after Barr’s colleagues and his boss, Ted Vera, whose LinkedIn profile name they changed to a homophobic slur.

Apparently they are not a group comprised entirely of script kiddies.

If you Google a bit and read the details on how they infiltrated this "security firm" it makes for pretty interesting reading. Amazing how gullible they were considering the business they are in - they completely got pwnd for their negligence and lack of security protocols.

Wow, this is a great way to catch the hackers... seriously, think about it. Barr announces his intentions, the hackers hack the crap out of his personal stuff, now the authorities can trace the hackers because they probably set the whole thing up hoping for this exact reaction.

At least, I'm hoping this is how it happened.

Hackers have to remember, there's always a better hacker out there...

They should send agents to find those people and just kill them.

Capital punishment for a bit of hacking? No due process?

You're just making a bad joke, right?

I've found that most of cutthemdown's solutions to world problems consist of killing, bombing, nuking or attacking people.

In case it wasn't already obvious, here's legal proof Twitter is an unreliable and even fabricated source of information. Next time you hear someone tweeted this or that, remeber it could be a frame or fraud. Twitter Twits..........

This is a probable scenario, but I think there are far bigger threats out there than Anonymous to focus on. Anonymous don't really seem to care unless you bugger 'em as opposed to, say, the Chinese who are actively hacking into our crap every day.

Well, that usually holds true but I always give the advantage to those who use their skills for devious purposes. The guy who does it for a living lives that life from 9-5. The guy who breathes it... he has a passion beyond all others. That's the guy I envision doing it for devious purposes and living off the thrill.

Now, whether the bad guy can mask his trail enough to avoid the good guy... now that's a nerdy wet dream of a movie right there.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic but I do admire them a bit. These are the people who could seemingly bring down anything they wish - they hold amazing power.

I lost my "hacking" skills when they put the delay on hotmail accounts. These are top-tier minds.
