Anyone know off the top of your head how the coaching staffs are selected for the Senior Bowl? I ask since the announcer made a point of talking about how the game was an opportunity for the college kids "to get coached up by NFL guys"...then went on to say that the staffs of the...get this...Bengals and Bills are handling the two teams.
Huh? ![]() That's the NFL's version of coaching them up? Right before the draft? What's up with how they do the coaching staff selections? It would seem to be a nice advantage come draft time for those teams. |

I was wondering this too. First time I've paid attention to the Senior Bowl so I really have no idea how they are decided.

Well it appears it's a punishment, otherwise how did Cincy and Buff both get in there?
![]() Surely not on merit...wouldn't every staff want to do this? I remember one year I think Reeves was in there, and there was talk about how he knew some inside stuff...he probably blew it anyway but you see the point. |

The coaching staffs run suicides and then do green bays until the last men standing are left.
Then, whoever wears the thightest-fitting coaches shorts get the gig. |

Lewis is one of those guys that I can't understand how he keeps a job. Sub-.500 over 6 seasons and 0-2 in the playoffs. Seems like a nice guy, and I'm guessing ownership is more to blame than he is, but he's sure getting a longer leash than most coaches would.

That might be it...like the top of the draft order then, they figure they need inside help the most or something? Funny...

100% fact. what im not sure about is whether this coaching is optional, im sure it is for the team but they will always take the opportunity to do it since its such an advantage to be there.
edit 2: semi-verified that this is the case, but the coaching staffs DO refuse to do it, for whatever reason. the 7-9 dolphins coached it last year and they were clearly not one of the worst in the NFL based on record. so take that for what its worth i spose ![]() edit: they were talking about this on sirius a few weeks ago, i am doing some search to verify that this was the case in years past. You have no idea. Mike Brown is easily the ****test owner in the NFL.

That would make sense, since it gives those coaching staffs an up-close and personal look at the incoming draft class.

What else is funny is that I saw them interviewing Dan Reeves the other day as he had been "coaching (?)" some of the seniors and was commenting how quickly they worked together and blah, blah, blah. So when I saw this thread I was wondering how he was involved. I do know that he is hoping to work on Chan Gailey's staff this next season and was wondering if he had actually gotten a job.

As long as the team makes money Mike Brown doesn't give a **** if they win or lose. Marvin Lewis has done enough that every year there is hope in Cincinnati and it brings in the fans for long enough to make money until they realize they are not going anywhere.

Because before he came along they were a joke of a franchise for 10 straight years. He's had a couple respectable years and might had a SB if the Steelers game had gone differently in regards to palmer's injury.
