Default Quotes that define you...

What quote best sums you up.

If you had to pick a quote, which one would it be?

I have this typed up and hanging on the wall next to my bathroom mirror. I look at it each day:

When you get what you want in your struggles for self

And the world makes you king for a day,

Just go to a mirror and look at yourself

And see what that man has to say.

For it isn't your father or mother or wife

Whose judgment upon you must pass,

The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the one staring back from the glass.

Some people might think you're a straight-shooting chum

And call you a wonderful guy.

But the man in the glass says you're only a bum

If you can't look him straight in the eye.

He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest

For he's with you clear to the end

And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test

If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years

And get pats on the back as you pass

But your final reward will be heartache and tears

If you've cheated the man in the glass.

When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have ever been committed in the name of rebellion.

Ah, here's the Heinlein one I was looking for. I'll include it as well:

Anyone who clings to the historically untrue - and thoroughly immoral - doctrine that violence never settles anything I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler would referee. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forgot this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and there freedoms.

You're quite a unique individual, I'd be interested to hear yours since presumably you have an opinion by starting the thread.

One I use for sports that I learned from a coach in my youth (who then decided that messing around with lil girls in his class was a OK). The quote is still good though.
"Practice doesnt make perfect. Perfect Practice makes Perfect" Always thought that was good because if you just keep doing the wrong thing, when it counts, you will never get it right.

Never give in - never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy. - Winston Churchill
