Default Why Not Teerlinck?

John Teerlinck enters his ninth season as defensive line coach of the Colts. Teerlinck joined Indianapolis from Denver, where he served as pass rush specialist for five seasons. Teerlinck (Indianapolis, Denver) is one of 24 NFL coaches to win a Super Bowl with more than one team. Teerlinck has coached in the NFL for the past 21 seasons, and this season will mark his 31st season in coaching, his 25th in the professional ranks. He has coached in 30 playoff games with five teams and with three Super Bowl champions (1997-98, Denver; 2006, Colts).

Got this from the Colts site. Don't know how to post a link.

Maybe there is a good reason why we shouldn't hire him. But I haven't heard anything about him this go round. He's got 21 yrs. experience now.

Teerlinck came under fire in 1996 amid allegations that he taught his players to aim for opposing quarterbacks' knees; the allegations were substantial enough that then-NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue summoned him to a meeting for a warning.[1]

So what's the deal on this guy? Seems like he has paid his dues.

Seems like a decent choice to me too, I'm sure there are plenty of clowns on here that will think of excuses and complain about it though. His units have performed well, although i'm kind of wondering why he wasn't considered when ron meeks left.

I actually met this guy once... at a bar... the night before a game... late that night... he was drinking... heavily. That guy can really pound them down. He claims to coach better hungover. I thought he was awesome. Told us a lot of great stories. Definitely old school and tough. I have no idea if he would make a good DC or not, but I am a fan of his.

DJ would dig it. They could go out drinking the night before games working on the game plan.

I can't think of much about the Colts' defense that would excite anyone other than Freeney and Mathis.
