Default Do yourself a fav , Watch the 30 for 30 on Espn "The Best That Never Was" about Marcus Dupree

http://30for30.espn.com/film/the-bes...never-was.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Dupree

It's about former Oklahoma State U football player Marcus Dupree and was well worth your hour if you like documentaries ...

I was only 8 or so when his story was in the media so this was the first I heard of him ... Pretty good story about a man that overcomes and seems at peace.

Made me want to get off my @$$ and try harder

I saw him in Boulder in 1982 - still remember his punt return TD. He was an incredible talent, maybe a once in a lifetime talent. Like most people who saw him play, I never forgot him and always wondered exactly what happened. The 30 for 30 show is good -- I was glad (although somewhat surprised) to see how at peace he is after everything.

Do yourself a favor and watch every 30 For 30 period. Even subjects I wasn't real interested in were real good shows.

My bad , I had originally typed it OU , and didn't want to confuse people on the college , like make em think I ment Ohio U ... And wanted to change it to Oklahoma U , and brain farted and added state from not being used to saying it that way .

He did look like he was like 25 playing v.s. teens tho in some of that footage that is for sure... I remember those years when the USFL was going and OU won a title just barely but can't remember Marcus.

He seems like a really good guy now from what I took from the 30/30.

It was about how the Columbian soccer team rose to the top because they were being funded by drug lord Pablo Escobar. The players were conflicted because they were friends with him, but they could not acknowledge it because they had to portray a positive image. At the end of it the team falls apart in the World Cup because of their associations with criminals.

I'd also recommend watching the one about Vlade Divac and Drazen Petrovic.

The Columbian soccer deal was great, as was Vlade, as was the Miami one while we're at it.

The 2-hour deals are clearly the best, mainly because they're more compelling stories (and require 2 hours as opposed to 1).

Agree 100%. Each episode has been worth the time. The recent one regarding Vlade Divac abnd Drazen Petrovic was very interesting to watch.

I was at the USFL game in Portland when his knee went the wrong way. He was far and away the best player on the field for a pretty lousy team. I felt like I'd been punched down low when I watched what happened with his knee. I knew it was going to be bad because I'd seen a similar injury to a player on my college team, and he never recovered. (Recovered well enough for normal activities, but never played again.)

Great episode.

He was really taken advantage of by a lot people. Especially that pastor.

Hard to believe he sat out for a few years, then just whipped himself into shape to make the NFL.
