Default NFLPA Cries To Congress About Potential Lockout

http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.c...68DBEA68EAF7C4

Quote:
As the specter of a year without pro football looms, the National Football League Players Association is taking its case to the halls of Congress — mounting an aggressive lobbying and public relations campaign urging lawmakers to push the owners to strike a deal before the March 3 deadline...

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth said it’s important for lawmakers to meet the “people who get their hands dirty.” Foxworth, who is on injured reserve, said if there’s a lockout, he, his wife and newborn baby would lose their health insurance.

“The most important thing that can happen for us on Capitol Hill is just to level the playing field because, as we found out recently, the NFL has been lobbying on Capitol Hill for a number of years now,” he said. “It’s important that they see our faces too and they recognize that there’s another team playing in this game.”

Dude just signed a 4 year deal in 09 for $27million, with 16.5mil guaranteed and he wants us to cry for his health insurance?? Dude.

C'mon man. Is Congress really there to referee a battle between millionaires and billionaires? I love NFL football as much as the next guy but after all the union's posturing and playing hardball, they decide to hide under Congress' skirt?

I guess Congress doesn't have more important things to do.

sorry NFL players and owners, people are still hurting, some haven't worked in awhile, you are going to have a hard time finding sympathy with millionaires fighting billionaires

if you miss an entire season, I won't cry, I can still watch college football

you're absolutely right...

but selfishly, if it'll get a deal done before draft time, i'm for it...

i'm not saying i'm right for feeling that way...in fact i'll openly admit i'm wrong...

your point is more towards the greater good...you're completely justified in your point...

Riiiiiight.....let's spend some more Taxpayer money on an issue that Policticians have no understanding or knowledge of-let's tie this up in Congressional Hearings while people are out there looking for work, or trying to figure out where they are going to move now that they've lost their House, or worse yet, where their next Meal is coming from.

I can't believe these guys are for real. Players-get ready for a pay cut, take it like a Man and suck it up. Owners-give us more Beer, Women and great times at the Stadium and we will be happy............................................. ....................for a while.

These guys have forgotten who the Customer is-

This is getting into the whole politics thing that never goes anywhere good, but Congress very rarely does things that are "more important" than this. Unless "more important" means the constant passing of more and more laws that are unnecessary and waste the taxpayers' money. Or the constant failure to regulate or hold accountable the corporate entities that they waste the taxpayers' money bailing out.

I suppose if by "more important" you mean "more wasteful", then yes.

So Foxworth is mad that he's actually going to have to spend some of his money out of pocket to buy health insurance? How will he ever accomplish something like that with the tens of millions of dollars?? Poor guy....

And no congress doesn't need to get involved, the players and owners need to just sit and hammer something out until they have an agreement.

If you have to ask, you can not afford one.

I know that a "Service" on a Lamborghini is over $20,000

This is the last thing we need Congress to address.

That time is paid for by the taxpayer. The taxpayer already pays enough for their overpriced tickets and merchandise. Keep your butts out of The Peoples' House, NFLPA.

Congress is not going near this. I mean Pelosi might, and burn down the capital while she was at it, but sane people now a no win albatros when they see it.

Now if owners make noise about consolidating teams or moving franchises .... that's another story.
