Default Nnamdi Asomugha is available...

Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha's contract voided and he will be allowed to become a free agent without the Oakland Raiders being able to use their franchise tag on him, according to an NFL Players Association document.

Asomughaís deal included a little-known clause that said his contract would void if he didnít achieve his not-likely-to-be-earned incentives in 2010 -- and he didn'ít.

His contract also contained a stipulation that if he didnít achieve his incentives, the Raiders would agree not to designate him their franchise or transition player.

To achieve his incentives, Asomugha had to play in a greater number of defensive plays in 2010 than he did in 2009, and this season Asomugha played in only 14 games whereas he played in all 16 in 2009.

He also could have achieved his incentives by improving upon on his interceptions, fumble recoveries or sacks this season -- but he didn't have any interceptions, fumble recoveries or sacks this season.

He will be the top defensive player available whenever free agency begins.

Lets bring him in and forget about Peterson in the draft and go D-line. Thoughts?

Maybe that's why there's so many repeat threads these days?

Guy is going to be expensive and in high demand. He'd be a great acquisition, especially if we lose Champ, but I doubt it happens.

Imagine Peterson on one side, Nnamdi on the other and Champ at FS.

Impossible to happen but cool to think about.

He's going to cost too much. Peterson, if we could get him, will be WAY less expensive. That money could go toward less expensive free agents to shore up the huge holes in our team while we build with the draft.

We'll be a better team for having this guy out of the conference. Hope he signs with an NFC team.

Don't we have a bunch of money to spend on FA? Let's make it happen.

It's not a call out at all, it is something I have noticed recently, it used to be the case that the 2 Nmadi threads on the front page would have been merged, the 2 Perry Fewell interview threads would have been merged etc. Not sure why it stopped.

It's the nickname of a high profile player in our division. Raider's fans use it all the time. I just thought it was a pretty well known thing... guess I was wrong.

No thanks.

Did you guys see Mebane dominating the line of scrimmage yesterday? Probably not since nobody watches what goes on at the line of scrimmage.

Thats our guy.

I second that

If we decide to go 4-3, I can see a great start to the offseason materializing

Hire Fewell or Fox, get a guy like Mebane in FA, plus a Bowers/Fairley at #2
That wouldn't solve our D-line problems all at once, but that would be a hell of a start

If we have the $ to get him AND Champ AND Harris (assuming we go back to ZBS) then definitely go after him and move Champ to FS.

Oh, and holly **** look at all their FA's btw.

"Pro Bowl defensive tackle Richard Seymour, safety Michael Huff, cornerback Stanford Routt, tight end Zach Miller, left guard Robert Gallery and running back Michael Bush are among the Raiders' other potential free agents."

If Oakland goes cheap they are going to be ****ed next year.
