Pay attention to the people around you. Get to know them better. Feel compelled to engage people more than the common bar talk when you see something that doesnt seem right about them. Be willing to take a little of your time to make sure that things are right in their world. Be willing to take a little more time to lend them a hand.

This is how we effect our world...by effecting our own domain.

Stay classy, guy.

Oh, and by the way...you may want to get into a time machine and jump to NOW as opposed to the time 8 hours ago when everyone figured out that this guy wasnt a "right-wing redneck".

That when Homeland Security has a document pointing out the dangers of home-grown terrorism and threats maybe they're onto something and everyone should shut the **** up.

I swear, liberals may dominate the coasts and go to college at a higher %, but they have some of the most ****ing stupid people around. There's got to be a name for their version of red-necks? We'll educated, delusional, snobs? How about farts? All they do is pass gas without thinking.

faith-based (political or religious) violence will, unfortunately, always be with us as it is part of homo in-sapiens. Congress is not and should not be immune. Heck we've had congressmen try to kill each other in the capitol during the 19th century.

Trying to wall off our elites will make the situation worse not better. Further restricting our second amendment rights is also wrong-headed. It seems that the essence of this tragedy is that an angry young man legally bought a weapon and attempted murder-suicide. End of story. No deep foundational causes that can be understood or corrected.

What a moron. Why anyone listens to your drivel or defends your postings here is beyond me.

What an utterly stupid post based on zero facts...but par for the course for our resident janitor/musician.

this thread already getting derailed, love this forum!

I think its a valid point and think that people could stand to step back and check out for a bit when they are getting pushed past the breaking point. Yes this guy might be a lunatic but somebody should have took him aside and just asked if he was ok.

Passion is one thing but you have to draw a line.

The government cant secure its own border, cant get you your drivers license in a reasonable amount of time, and can barely establish any sort of justice in our country. What on earth makes us think that it can root out guys like this and deal with them effectively and efficiently?

Its up to us to deal with this in our own communities. The feds will no doubt use this as an excuse to hire security outfits for every member of congress and the senate. That will cost an obscene amount of money that will come form taxpayer wallets. Our citizens have to deal with the threat of death every day on the borders of our country and the government chooses to do nothing about it...to let them live in danger or abandon their property. Maybe we should take this as an opportunity to see how the poor people live in this country. Its sucks when people we care about get hurt doesnt it? Maybe they should remember that the next time they see another rancher killed on his property by drug cartels. Our government has allowed our people in border commmunities to live under constant threat.

He was born in Oklahoma,
His wife's name's Betty Lou Thelma Liz
And he's not responsible for what he's doing
Cause his mother made him what he is.

And it's up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Just kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

Sure does like his Falstaff beer,
Likes to chase it down with that Wild Turkey liquor;
Drives a fifty-seven GMC pickup truck;
He's got a gun rack; "Goat ropers need love, too" sticker

And it's up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Just kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

Well,
M is for the mudflaps you give me for my pickup truck
O is for the Oil I put on my hair
T is for T-bird
H is for Haggard
E is for eggs, and
R is for REDNECK.

Up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

You are right-- and this should tell you the neo con obsession with al Qaeda is garbage -- a slick piece of propaganda.

If the threat were real -- they would have spent real $ to seal the borders.

The most dangerous terrorists are right here in the US of A. They live among us -- and walk the same streets as you and me.

What is sad is that a 9 year old and 6 innocent people were killed due to a lunatics actions. But instead people are using this action for their own political rhetoric and pushing their own hatred. To imply that one party pushes hatred while the other does not is simply ignorant. I point to: 1) Alec Baldwin says we should stone Henry Hyde and his family, 2) Liberals book fantasizes about killing Bush, and 3) Numerous liberals calling for bush's death.

What we should learn is that hate is a severe problem in this country...regardless of political affiliation.

There was literally a movie that that surmised the assassination of Bush that was lauded and praised by liberal critics.

Epic,

Did you oppose the Iraq war?

Did you speak out against the invasion of Afghanistan?

That's it in a nutshell.

Politicians need to choose their rhetoric carefully, there are idiots in the country, armed to the teeth, who think they are being called to violent action.

L.A. was baiting you to use facts and contradict him. The issue is violence in our country spawned from our inability to communicate.

Nobody "likes" anybody on a politics board. The whole focus should be about the issues but we are not capable of staying on target thus....

How are we going to identify them if we keep slashing the programs that they need to even be identified? Reagan wholesale doubled the homeless population with some of his policies and it's only gotten worse since then.
