Nick Fairley is a bigger, stronger Romo and just what we need. I want to see him pound Rivers and Cassel and send them home crying to mamma...

Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley gained what his teammates and coaches said was an unfair reputation this season of being a dirty player.

Fairley, who led the SEC with 10½ sacks, has shrugged off the season-long chatter of his being a dirty player, and he did again Thursday.

"I just go out there and give it 110 percent," Fairley said. "I go out there and try to make plays for my team. If it's me playing dirty, if that's what they call it, that's what it is."

Auburn defensive coordinator Ted Roof acknowledged getting Fairley to tone it down this season with some of his antics after the play, but doesn't buy the rap that Fairley is dirty.

"He plays hard, and he plays physical, and we don't apologize for that," Roof said.

I'm reserving judgement on any dline picks until it's clear what type of defense we will be running. The way Elway talked yesterday, it seemed like everything is up for grabs. I'm expecting a switch to the 4-3.

I wonder if Doom stays at LB and Ayers drops to DE in a 4-3?

Doom would be a pass rush specialist in a 4-3, ala Derrick Thomas. He's not good enough at run support to be anything else.

Ayers is definitely a DE in a 4-3. A damn good one.

I hope we do switch to a 4-3. Makes getting Fairley or Bowers much better options. I'm pretty sure that Bowers will end up the #1 overall pick now though. The Panthers need their next Julius Peppers and Bowers is the closest thing in this draft.

If we stay in a 3-4, I sure would like it if we could trade down a bit and get a guy like Quinn/Ayers/Von Miller around #12-15 range... then have some ammunition to get a top notch DE like Heyward or Watt a little later in the first/early in the 2nd. Just cross your fingers that someone really falls in love with Patrick Peterson... hopefully not us!

From obscurity to a top five selection in one year. Let's hope if he comes here it doesn't turn out that he shares Romo's fondness for chemicals, because that has to cross your mind when you're looking at both his rapid rise and his temperment on the field.

I really hated Romo until he put on a Bronco's uniform. He was a dirty playing bastard but he was our dirty playing bastard
