Default Weis Leaving KC to take U Florida OC position

Just announced on ESPN. Weis taking OC position at UF. Anyone want to bet we see a certain former Bronco's HC as the new OC in KC?

That's so crazy - the article I just read mentioned McD would likely end up as the OC for the Chiefs. Wasn't it just like a month ago Haley was wagging his finger in Josh's face? How crazy would that be?

Charlie Weis has been offered the job of offensive coordinator at Florida under new head coach Will Muschamp and is likely to accept it, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Weis is currently the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, one of the surprise teams in the NFL this season, but reports indicate Chiefs head coach Todd Haley would be fine with losing Weis.

Weis has also been the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets and New England Patriots.

His lone stint in college came as a head coach, from 2005-2009 at Notre Dame. He went 19-6 in his first two seasons as the Irish coach, but stumbled mightily the following season at 3-9. He went 13-12 in the last two seasons before being fired in favor of current Irish coach Brian Kelly.

If this report ends up being true, Weis would join Muschamp with Florida after the Gators complete their current season under Urban Meyer's group of coaches. Weis would be replacing Steve Addazio as OC, who left to take the head job at Temple.

It's just talk right now. But it would be strange.

That would mean major change to UF offense.

You just might see him replacing Haley as HC.

It is pretty common knowledge that Will Muschamp wants to incorporate a pro style offense at Florida... Certainly a huge difference than the Urban Meyer spread they have been running.

Huge difference? Are you mental? It is common knowledge that Belichick has been borrowing plays from Meyers offense for years now. Weiss comes in to an ideal situation here imo.

Not often you see a guy jump from one position in the NFL to the exact same position in the NCAA. Odd.

mortreport Chris Mortensen

On Weis, also have updated to report his exit was inevitable. Haley had strong oversight w offense & Cassel. Weis wants autonomy.

No McD surely then?

I wonder if Charlie has ever been exposed to Florida humidity.

Yes, HUGE difference. Do you call what Florida did with Tim Tebow or what they did this year with Trey Burton or Jordan Reed behind center anything close to a Pro Style offense? Wake up and watch every Gator game like I have the past 15 years.

Why would people want McDaniels in the AFC West? The offense is the only thing that WAS working in Denver...

I like the idea of taking the ball out of Charles' hands and letting Cassel drop back 30-40 times a game.

If McDaniels takes Quinn with him to KC, then that would be icing on the cake.

Haley seems like a pretty hands on HC and the fact that he was previously an OC, it makes sense that he likes to be heavily involved in the offensive game plans. The only reason Pioli might bring McD in is because of Cassel. With the growth of Cassel under Weiss, does it make sense to bring in McD, Especially if Haley does not like him?

Unless it's McD to Eastern Michigan or Bowling Green.
