"They want to make it that guys paid this much money for a ticket. Yeah, I understand that, I understand completely. We risk ourselves out there on the field each and every day also. When soldiers come home from Iraq you don't boo them. I look at it the same way. I take my job seriously." Later, in a statement released by the team, Rolle said: "I used a very poor, inappropriate example earlier today to demonstrate how seriously I take my job. **** that dude. 2 months was enough for me... you could make it 10 mil a year and I wouldn't go through that **** again, for 5 years no less.
Now the military is putting me through the most expensive school in Colorado (University of Denver), and I still wonder if it was worth being in boot camp haha. I think anyone who has served in the military (who hasn't been deployed) can say that it was the worst time of their life... it's not so much the constant discouragement and constant egging "give up, you can't do this", or the 16-18 hour days, 7 days a week, the ****ty food, cold showers, 8 miles of running a day (on a light day), constant fear that you're going to get jumped, getting tear gassed, given impossible taskes and being chastised when you fail. These things aren't that bad... it's just that it gets old sooo fast. Rolle is a jackass. The things these people go through every day so we can continue with our way of life and our economic system. It's in Europe, too. Our troops are bearing the cross for the entire developed world... and it goes under-appreciated. I wonder how many people have died playing football... I can think of two, and one who was paralyzed. And they're making millions. Whereas the death count in Iraq alone is in the 10s of thousands, and the average US Soldier is 19 years old and makes $18,000 a year. (Not that he can head out to the bar after a long day with the little paycheck he does receive.) Last edited by Swedish Extrovert; 12-04-2010 at 08:21 AM.. |
