Default OT: Goob vs the 72 Oz Steak!

Heading to Amarillo on Dec 4th to take on the 72 oz Steak Challenge at the Big Texan. 1 hour to finish a 72 oz sirloin, potato, dinner roll, salad, and 3 fried shrimp.

Got 1 other guy coming to try it also and 6 more coming to cheer us on. $29 each way Denver-Amarillo made it a no brainer. It's something I always thought would be fun to do so we're going. Fly in 4pm Sat, and leave Amarillo 9AM Sunday morning. Should be back in Welllington in time for the Bronco game.

Adam Richmond did it. I have my doubts for the average carnivore.

That looks unbelievably delicious.

There's no chance you can do it, imo, but it should make for some fantastic left overs

That's about all you'll be able to find to do in Amarrillo, but if you finish that cow's hind quarter be sure to post some pics!

Change the thread title to "beef'.....It's not like Sirloin is actually steak. Wouldn't even want 7.2 ounces of that **** unless it was on a bun.

No, he finished it.

Adam has problems with breakfast burritos. The one at Jack's Grill (7lb breakfast burrito) kicked his ass.

Steaks or burgers or wings he zooms right through.

Because meat = deliciousness. Eat it, stupid veggans...

I think I could down the steak in an hour, but I'm not sure if I could do the roll, potato and salad along with it.

I think thats the thing. Anyone can eat a 72 oz steak. Its the potato, roll and salad that makes it tough. Bread and starches...very filling. If you eat them first, you wont finish the steak. If you mix it up you have a good shot. I think on Man vs Food he went after the steak first.

That's absolutely nuts. There's no way I could tackle that big boy. But it would be a delicious try.

Best of luck to you man.

I haven't been around a food competition that serious, but there used to be an old bar and grill in my hometown where you could attempt to eat a "monster burger" which was about 3 pounds or so, with a pound of fries and coleslaw in under an hour and you could get it for free -- if not, it was about 25 or 30 bones.

Before one of my friends left for the Army, a few of us went there and he and a few of my other buddies tried it. Big boys, 6'5 and ~ 250 + -- and they couldn't do it.

I guess if I've learned anything from Man vs. Food it would be that you would save your breads/starches last.

I wish you the best and hope you can do it.

I also hope you do not take a crap within 500 feet of another human. Please?
