Default Shanahan: Rex Grossman is a two minute specialist.

While McDaniels may not be the answer, the old man ain't it either.

Shanny is getting a bit senile if you ask me.

The question to be asked is: Has any coach in NFL HISTORY removed their starting QB for the final two minute drive -- with the game within reach -- to bring in an ice cold QB with a seriously checkered past?

Donovan wasn't hurt. Donovan wasn't the suck.

But Shanahan felt something, something stupid. Take McNabb out, and bring in the Grossman. Yes, the Grossman. With his history, only good things can happen.

And. it. ended. exactly. the. way. everyone. thought. it. would.

Redskins turnover.

It was definitely odd. Today, he is saying that McNabb is not in good enough shape to run a two-minute drill without timeouts - which begs the question, why did he start the game?

Still, I love me some Shanny. He makes mistakes; but I hold a soft place in my heart for the little bastard.

Calling McNabb a fatass: long overdue.

Mcnabb hasn't played well all year other than the occasional big play. I think he might have wanted to light a fire under him.

I don't buy that McNabb wasn't in good enough shape for one reason: did you see that 35-40 yard run McNabb had during the game? A guy that is injured, out-of-shape, whatever, doesn't make that play in a NFL game - especially a QB.

And here is the other question: If McNabb was that out of shape, what wait till the last fricking two minutes to put in the grossman? Doesn't make a lick of sense. Grossman ain't pulling that out.

It's not the benching of McNabb that's the strangest part, it's that Shanahan thought that awful Rex Grossman could do a better job. I mean, when your starting QB gets replaced at a crucial part of a game because you think Rex Grossman can do a better job you've clearly got problems. They're doubled over with laughter in Philadelphia today.

Bad move on Shanny's part.

Watching the Skins this year, I wonder how much he's trying to let his son do and how much he's controlling himself.

Could be that Kyle doesn't have alot of love for DNAB. I mean out of anyone...who would want to go with Grossman? Grossman was Kyle's boy in Houston....Kyle's the guy who would want to play Grossman...not Mike...IMO.

Make's me think...Shanny is taking the heat for a decision that he allowed his son to make.

Yea, I'm sorry... but Shanny stepped in it on Sunday. Not the first or last time he'll make a controversial move, though.

Coaches are egomaniacs, folks. That's why they're where they are.

When it works, they're called "geniuses." When it doesn't, they're called.... well... egomaniacs.

Pretty dumb move by Shanny, though... in a lot of ways. I will say, McNabb continues to handle these situations very well.

He didn't say he was the 'specialist', only that he was much more familiar with the 2-minute terminology as he played for Kyle Shanahan with the same calls and reads in Houston last year.

Probably a shot across the bow to light a fire under McNabb's ass, but either way, you are clearly incapable of understanding the facts and instead choose to make things up that suit your agenda, so yeah man, Grossman is the 2 minute specialist for the Redskins

I don't think McNabb is very good. But I'm pretty sure Grossman is also full of fail.

So I'll leave that one to Shanny. Good luck, Shanny!

Donovan McNabb-QB- Redskins Nov. 1 - 8:06 pm et

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Redskins' disappointment with Donovan McNabb is "the worst kept secret in the league" and Mike Shanahan has not been happy with the way McNabb practices.
Mort also reports that Shanahan thought about benching the star quarterback after the team's Week 4 win. McNabb is a team captain and seemingly has support in the locker room. Shanahan is clearly sending McNabb a message heading into the bye week, though it's hard to imagine him getting benched permanently. That being said, you can't rule anything out.

you can see it in the way he plays lately, always smiling, looks like he is jacking around a bit too much and is unfocused.

No kidding, it's like us benching Orton with 2 minutes and putting in Brady Quinn.

Knowing damn well Orton can run a 2min drill pretty well, that would probably make most of us sick!
