Does anyone now what's up?

I know when Bowlen fired Shanahan 2 years ago he mentioned his health (in particular short-term memory loss). Is he still running this team day-to-day or is he turning over control to Joe Ellis?

Money. Bowlen has clearly put a spending cap on this team. Are we going to be the LA Clippers of NFL?

I think it's more to the fact he knows there is going to be a work stoppage next season so he's trying to save money back for that.

Where does this money thing come from? He put out a ton of money the last couple offseasons. Just look at our turnover and FA lists. He also just extended some expensive players. The only one not extended so far, that needs it, is Champ.

Money has become more of a focal point at Dove Valley. Make no mistake. Whether it's just good business or because of some other motive (Bowlen's finances, a potential lockout) is the question.

Look, it's fair to speculate. First of all, Bowlen is the one that brought it up. If it was such a nonsense thing, then why would a man like him even put it out there? Second of all, he's getting up in age, not like Al Davis, but to a point where these things are more likely to be a concern.

And most importantly, why isn't he interacting with the fans more? Jerry Jones is on the radio every other day. I'm not saying I want Jerry Jones as an owner, I'm just wondering where the owner is in all this change. Why did he decline interviews/comments after the worst loss in the franchises history?

I'm also very unsure why there is a seeming contradiction between what he set out to do when he fired Shanahan (create a more natural management structure) and what he did hiring McDaniels (gave him essentially the same amount of power).

It has nothing to do with the loss EXCEPT that I wonder how much this could impact any potential changes next year. In that much, I have the same amount of crazy as any fan that just watches his or her team have a HISTORICALLY BAD loss.

This is a real issue and I have quietly wondered about since he fired Shanahan. But it keeps being reaffirmed by decisions that are made, articles that are posted, etc...

What is one other thing that might have caused Bowlen to bring McDaniels over from NE? Could it be that NE is one of the cheapest organizations in the league? It's a fact we cannot escape until we see more evidence about where this is going.

I think that you have to take the guy at his word:

As for his health, Bowlen said he is not slowing down or slacking off. "My health is excellent, for a guy my age, although I'm not going to do any more triathlons."

The owner paused and said: "I have short-term memory loss. I know that some of the memories of the Super Bowl championships are fading."

Asked if he was concerned about the memory loss worsening, Bowlen said:

"Not really. It comes with age."

Bowlen is seeking new memories. "I love what I'm doing. I'm enjoying this offseason more than I have in a long time."

I'm trying to think of a reason why he'd go to the media and lie about such a thing. I'm not sure if it's any cause for concern at this point, but I don't think he's just making it up.

Yes, but you are talking about special years in his life AND details he was involved with day-to-day.

And, again, he thought it was worth mentioning to the media at least 2 different times. Bowlen is not stupid, he had to know people would wonder if he put it out there.
