The correct ending to the thread title is, the season will be officially over.

Not sure I want Gruden. He won a Super Bowl with Dungy's defense and by knowing the Raiders by heart. Outside of that the Buc's did nothing. He did a good turnaround in Oakland, but that was a long time ago.

Gruden. He is the logical choice.

I still say McDaniels gets 3 full seasons to implement his vision/ruin the team no matter what.

Urban Meyer was my choice going in last time. Given the commercial appeal of Tebow, the Broncos may decide to focus on grooming him with a complementary head coach. I think it has a lot to do with
a) How Pete Carrol does in Seattle.
b) How badly we do the rest of the (far easier) season.
c) if Cowher or Marty are available, and how much money they want - versus how much Bowlen has.

I'm pretty sure McDouche will get 3 full seasons, UNLESS epic beatdowns keep occurring and the team quits on him. Bowlen doesn't want to pay a crap load of money to 2 coaches.

If we go 6-10, he'll get another season for sure, but we have a losing record NEXT year, he's done

Not me. I don't want Cowher for sure. I don't want anyone with an already established legacy with another franchise.

I like the idea of Cowher. I actually do like the idea of Urban Meyer, I'll admit. I love the idea of Kubiak. I'm intrigued by the idea of Mike Heimerdinger, who I think has shown plenty of competence.

I do like Gruden too. There's a coach that we know will prepare the team to play division rivals.

Kubiak is succeeding pretty well in Houston, so I don't see that happening, but I would LOVE that option.

Ugh. No legacies.

Kubiak is an intriguing choice, but I really like the idea of Gruden finally getting the chance to stay in one place and establish his own legacy.

McDaniels gets 3 years no matter what in my opinion... the Broncos don't want to become known as a franchise that prematurely pulls the eject lever on coaching staffs

The problem with Kubes, Dennison(who is a decent option) Kyle Shanahan and other former Broncos coaches is that we don't have the personal any more to run their system without some rejiggering. Kyle is a system quarterback and Tebow is a spread quarterback, but outside of New England, Kansas City and here, no one really runs spread.

Yeah....He's really racking up those playoff appearances.

If it's Kubiak you want...He WILL be available in 2012.

He basically inherited a loser, he's turning it around and so far is looking pretty good the past couple of years

As is usually the case with coaching changes.

I like Kub's and wish him well but you McD haters crack me up. Kub's is "looking pretty good the past couple of years" because he was allowed to stick around and build his team.

He was 14-18 in his first 2 years. A record McD will at least match.

Shanahan was 8-12 in his first 20 games before being fired by the Raiders. A record McD exceeded.

Even today....Kub's sits squarely at 34-33 halfway into his FIFTH season.

But yeah, okay....Fire Mcdoodoopants and hire Kubiak, another .500 coach.

(Who would have to do a TOTAL rebuild b/c he wouldn't have the pieces needed for his preferred style of play as LK pointed out)

No way Josh is gone this year or next. If there is a strike/holdout/work stoppage, the coaches will still get paid.. No way Bowlen pays Josh on his deal and another "new" coach for a year with no play.

Let us just hope Josh can learn from this past game and meet the expectations he and the front office both have.

What about Josh McDaniels, lets give him at least 2 full seasons and more likely 3. He is better than all the candidates I see mentioned here.

Now take the teams that they inherited and compare.

McDaniels inherited an 8-8 team and has made it worse.

Kubiak took over a 2-14 team with no talent whatsoever.

Once again, when context comes into play, McDaniels looks much worse.

Don't you dare bring logic into this conversation! If the new coach doesn't bring glory to the franchise immediately he must be excommunicated!

Indeed.

Houston won 14 games in the 3 years prior to his hiring and indeed improved them to 22 wins over the next 3. The point of my post wasn't to discredit or disparage Kubiak in anyway.

It was more to show how GD fickle some of the fire McD instantly crowd is. You know perfectly well that 95% of those same personalities would be calling for Kubiaks head on the mane if he were-34-33 with no playoff appearances 5 years into his tenure here in 2017 or whatever.

We are polar opposites on most issues around here 'beef but at least you see that going all chicken little in regards to coaching changes is a path this team doesn't need.
