Tebow - Answer to Red Zone Woes? - The Orange Mane

I thought it was a nice adjustment that McD decided to use Tebow inside the 10. Tebow rewarded him by making plays, including the Broncos' first TD.

As they develop the package Tebow can maybe throw from it as well, but as of now this looks like the most potent weapon the Broncos have in the red zone. Dude has solid speed and excellent vision. He'll bulldoze for that extra yard as well.

This is just what he did at Florida. They had to find a way to put him on the field, and when they did he changed the landscape at UF forever. I'm interested to see how McD implements the Tebow factor from here forward. We may suck, but at least it will be fun to watch Tebow bulldoze some safeties!

I was just waiting for the one time he'd throw it out of the formation. I would have loved to see what would have come of that.

Yeah exactly, he needs to throw out of that formation at some point. McD has to take the reins at some point in those formations.

Tebow clearly helped the offensive flow today. Great to see him out there contributing. What a boost that was for the team and fans.

Would love to see him at least attempt a throw. But it was exciting to watch him play.

Tebow took advantage of a couple of things. First off, the Jets player that was supposed to contain him didnt. Secondly, our whole team got the running game going. I am glad he got his TD and all, but that is not gonna be routine play or a routine result, IMHO.

I think that what McD is doing is smart. He's letting Tebow get the feel of the game in the way that is easiest, most natural, and gets the fear of the sack out of the way. He's letting Tebow build on successes. Very smart.

I think that he'll continue that practice until he sees the defense adjust in the right way to give Tebow a clear opportunity to punish it with the pass. Then they'll utilize the throw.

He picks up positive yardage on almost every play. That alone is worth having.
Tough to bring down, and he forces defenses to prepare for a completely different look.

I love it. Glad we're finally seeing it, and I think a couple of those option/reverse type plays may end up panning out, because teams are just going to assume he'll run every play. (Not to mention play-action.)

Having that extra blocker helps.

Just need to see some passes out of it though.

He has never gained yards with blazing speed. He punishes you with 4, 5, 6, 7 yard runs on critical downs to convert and he never goes down with the first hit. Thats what he did at Florida.

Its different than what you are used to from a running QB, but it was super effective at Florida and had some success today.

With as many negative running plays as we have been having, having a guy who can turn a 1-yard loss into a 3-yard gain is a MAJOR improvement.

I think you hit on one of his strengths. He sees the lane and hits it hard. He has the feet and the vision to make plays.

We saw a lot of Tebow today and he flat out, didn't disappoint....I'm sure they will start to develop some throws out of that formation! And YES, he is the answer to our Red Zone woes!

yeah, I know exactly what he's about. we've had this argument several times.

just not crazy about taking our QB out of the game so we can gain three yards up the gut. I'd rather have Brad Smith at this point.

I thought he turned it on around the corner on the TD. Knowgain would have followed the pulling OL and the play would have been a 2 yard loss. Tebow was able to SEE there was nothing then turn on the jets and bounce it outside for an easy TD.

You pretty much nailed it there.

As Tebow gets more experience and the coaches gain more confidence in him, it will be hard to keep him off the field at this point. Simply because of neccessity.

This is how Tebow plays. It's not just in the red zone, he's always a threat to any defense when he's on the field.

Put him in there. I promise we won't be disappointed...

I was up in fairplay today visiting my mom, and didn't get to see but about 10 minutes of the game, so I don't know if they were using him in 3rd and 1 situations or not
