Default Stats You'd Like to See Tracked

Sure "stats are for losers" but we're getting to a point where we keeping adding more and more comprehensive information in context so it's becoming more and more telling.

So what information would you like to see?

I'd like to see:

- Interceptions broken into man and zone coverage and tipped balls.

- Someone timing sacks for "coverage"

- QB pressures over which player. Same with sacks.

- RBs successful rushing lanes and the associated linemen credited

- Missed blocks

- Missed tackles

I'd definitely like to see more stats measuring an O-lineman's performance.

A lot of Broncos fans might not even be able to tell you who Ryan Clady is, even though he's probably our best player.

But yeah, missed blocks, pancakes, etc.

Also something for the d-linemen in the 3-4 as well... something like "blocks eaten" or "gaps plugged" only something less dirty sounding.

CB targeted/in coverage man or zone/ passes completed realted to CB man or zone.

And the number plays and players rush per game. So 10 plays rushing 5, 15 plays rush 4 and so on, and classify it by 4-3 and 3-4

Defensive pressures.

Not specific to players, per se, but FO gives some more detailed oline stats:

I think the most likely to become more 'mainstream', as I've heard it mentioned over the last few years on the primetime games is 'QB hurries/knockdowns'.

I think that the Chiefs now unofficially keep a stat for "molestations".

Those are kept. If you look at the ESPN box score, look at the defensive statistics and there's a column titled "TFL". That's Tackles For Loss.

Some of these may be kept but I'd like more consistency on their features...

QBs: Air Rate (How long the ball is in the air prior to hitting the receiver)
RBs: Broken Tackles/Missed Tackles (BT is obvious. Missed Tackles would be elusiveness)
WRs/TEs: Catch Area. Does a receiver catch the ball 5 yards from the LOS? 10? 20? Would separate true "deep threats" from true "possession" guys.
OL: Block Time. How long does the lineman engage and block a player on run and pass plays?
DL: Disengage Time. See above for OL but the lineman gets away from the block.
LBs: Tackle Space. Do they make tackles on the sidelines or just after a RB has gained 5 yards up the middle?
DBs: Head Turns. How many of their pass breaks have the DB's head turned towards the ball? Separates those who play the man from those who play the ball.
Punters: Hang Time. Better/More consistently kept.

Did someone say Hillis? I'd like to know ygihwr. Or yards gained if Hillis was running. Shouldn't be too hard. Take yards gained and square it.

"My-Bad" interceptions, you know the ones where the WR/RB/TE just totally **** the QB over? Those ones.

I think a stat called 'Pancakes Eaten' would have some serious value.

Pants crapping hits: when a dude tackles a dude so hard he craps his pants. It could either be measured in occurrences or total volume.

Those are tracked by various outlets, however they are vastly subjective stats and not easily done outside the actual playcall and team assignments. Teams do track these very things and attach them to players grades, but they are certainly NOT going to let fans have access to them

I'd like them to find ways to quantify offensive line performance. Pancake blocks, for example, are often mentioned but isn't an official stat. Teams had out "grades" to lineman...I'd like to see an official formula created to "grade" lineman on the same scale league wide.

It would be great, but it requires knowing things that are not readily available to the public. Like Playcalls and even more restricted is how teams make that play unique. Especially, if teams change the playcall at the LOS or for OL the protections.
