Default Brandon Lloyd = phenomenal thus far

Through 4 games at least.

88% of his 25 catches have been for 1st downs.

Leads the league with 8 catches of 20 yards or more.

Only 2nd in yardage to the All-Pro Reggie Wayne.

Thus far I cannot recall many drops by him at all.

Superb showing from a guy most of the NFL thought was never going to be a player.

Keep it up Brandon.

Yep he is taking his ability and now has rounded out his game. Glad to see someone take the adversity they had and turn it into success.

Good job to the coach and talent evaluators for getting the most out of this guy as well. Just another quality FA pick-up from our stellar front office.

Royal's resurgence is a nice story too. Add in Gaffney and Thomas...wow.

If Denver could manage 75 yards rushing a game how would we lose?

Lets just stick to congrats for Lloyd.

Unless that FO wasn't the same one that just traded a 4th for Lawrence "I'll just wait here" Maroney.

Reminds me of Antonio Bryant in 2008 when he had his breakout season in his 7th year in the league. Except this is Lloyd's 8th year!

He has some of the best hands you'll see on a receiver anywhere. Some of the catches he makes are jaw dropping.

our run game has now turned into screens and qb sneaks

I thought it was hilarious actually

but Llyod was been playing well

as good as Marshall is, our offense works just fine without him

Brandon Lloyd is playing at a stud level for us right now.

I hope he stays hungry and doesn't get a fat head....or demand a fat contract for a while.

He has 25 catches for 454 yards this year.

That puts him on pace for 100 catches for 1816 yards.

Screw Micheal Vick, the real comeback story is Lloyd. It's outstanding to watch.

True dat. Drek made a comment among the lines that it's the system and what not, but Lloyd gets separation and has great hands. He hardly needs separation.

He had a season in SF where I thought he was one of the best up-and-coming WR in the league. Then he dropped off of the map for some reason.

I hope he can keep it up, because Orton will be throwing the ball his way quite a bit.

maybe at his age he has matured and realized he isnt going to find an offense that is a better match for him

at least from what I understood his problems with past teams had to do with his effort or lack of in practice and film study

also his inability to run routes and wild inconsistency with his hands

there was also the prima dona act, but I don't think that will be a problem

A 4th for Maroney and a 6th, FYI.

Very low value move for a team that needed a back with knowledge of the system, or would Lance Ball (a guy who couldn't gain yardage against 3rd stringers in the pre-season) have been a better alternative?

Lloyd is making the most of his new opportunity, but it is largely coming from within McDaniels' system. He's using Lloyd in a role perfectly suited to Lloyd's abilities. He's now doing the same thing with Royal out of the slot and Gaffney with the short to intermediate routes as well.

Like I said in the game thread though, Lloyd is playing fantastic but he is just a stop gap in this offense for a couple years while Thomas and Decker get 100% up to speed with a complex system. When they're ready this offense will take it to another level.

I'm pretty certain that any of our other backs, including practice squad fellows, could have performed at least as well as Maroney is performing now.

It literally doesnt get any worse than this...that is, unless we would have traded a 3rd and a 5th for him.

Really?

Because I watched enough of pre-season to know for SURE that is not true.

Ball and Hall couldn't handle pass pro against 3rd stringers. You think they'd do well against real NFL talent?

Maroney has looked like **** running the ball but he's also had pretty much no where to run. In fact, his best run all day today came from an off-tackle run where the blocking was so damn bad the entire defensive front seven penetrated the line before Maroney had even picked a hole, letting him cut back for some ok yardage.

But Maroney knows his assignments, primarily in pass pro, and doesn't miss too many block pickups. With poor run blocking and a deficient backfield until Moreno is back the last thing we can afford is ****ty pass pro.

He'd make a solid #3 back, which is what he's supposed to be doing. Instead without Moreno he's the feature guy as our #2 can't handle the #1 load. Such is the curse of employing chance of pace type backs.

Still far too early to judge the OL or any of the backs though. The OL is young and finally starting to get healthy. The backs haven't been healthy either. This pre-season was a perfect recipe for early season struggles on the ground. I look forward to seeing how they handle the second quarter of the season now that guys are starting to get back on the field.

Very impressed with Lloyd. I was a little hesitant with his route running but not bad. Great hands thus far and huge play making abilities. Looks like some good chemistry between him and Orton

Its hard to believe that anyone would take time apologizing for what has been the worst run game in the history of this proud franchise.

I've said since last year that I thought he could be the poor man's Randy Moss in our offense. But, I'd say he's actually a more diverse weapon at this point. He's catching anything near him.
