"'We're having a good time tonight but we're going to kill a lot of people next week. So let's not forget about that. I don't want to ruin this but it's too real not to mention it. And music used to be about this. And it still is about this, it's a human thing. And these are human beings over there and we're making a big mistake. I feel like I'm riding in a giant gas guzzling SUV and the driver's drunk as a ****ing skunk. He's drunk on power.'
Name that inductee. ![]() Last edited by Rohirrim; 12-17-2009 at 09:39 AM.. |

I Googled the quote - part of it - and found out. Won't spoil it though.

I didn't Google it and have no idea.
I do think it's funny that they're inducting ABBA and The Stooges at the same ceremony....the thought of ABBA running into Iggy Pop backstage is interesting to say the least. ![]() |

C'mon Man, how can you not love all that polyester and those Kiss/Ziggy Stardust boots??
![]() I saw one of the local opening bands at a Dead Milkmen show years ago do a punked up version of "Knowing Me Knowing You"...it was pretty funny. The DM loved it and talked about it throughout their entire show ![]() |

Well, in all fairness, ABBA is pretty funny to hear now. IMHO, it hasn't aged well at all and clearly is a pop product of it's time. Strangely enough, they're a lot of people's guilty pleasure...Sid Vicious (of all people) was on record as being a huge fan, believe it or not.
The ABBA trip almost totally escapes me though, not my thing at all. As for the others, I liked The Hollies, Genesis is what it is, Jimmy Cliff is pretty cool and then there's Iggy, who is probably the most intense senior citizen in recorded history. Too bad The Stooges guitarist just passed away a few months ago, it would've been worth it to tune into this thing just for that performance (if they were allowed to perform, that is). |

It's really only "rock 'n' roll" in name only....they've inducted pop stars, bluesmen, jazzmen, etc. It should be renamed the "Music Hall of Fame" but it wouldn't rake in as much profit with that moniker I suppose.

They can't close it until Hillis gets in. I hear that dude rocks harder than David Lee Roth.

I went there a few years back, and found it to be grossly disappointing. Not only was it so diluted as to focus on everything - it also really focused on nothing. To wit, we were in a section where they had an outfit next worn by the Backstreet Boys right next to an outfit worn by Elton John, right next to an outfit worn by James Brown. That put outfits from three different genres and three different eras right next to each other. It was completely disorganized and had no flow... be it by timeline, by genre, whatever. And on the clothing note, my daughters liked the place the most because that was what it was really all about - clothing. It seemed that 75 percent of the place was clothing. |

![]() Yeah, the R&R HOF is still a joke. Still no Peter Frampton - despite the fact that "Frampton Comes Alive" still ranks as the best-selling live album of all time (it was the best-selling record of all time for quite a while there.) |

![]() The place has always been a ripoff. One time through it is more than enough to satisfy any curiousity one may have. For anyone who hasn't gone and are toying with the idea of going, go to a Hard Rock Cafe instead. It's cheaper on the wallet (although not by much) and you'll see the same type of artifacts (and in some cases, even better ones). |

If you want to relive the history of R&R, just listen to some Eddie Cochran songs.
