BFinTN, it's a longer story than what puckfiend says. I wasn't even on the DPO when it started, joining about 4 months later, but I know what happened.

A Fader fan (was it Black Hole?) called us Red Neck Pony Lovers, shortened to Neck Ponies. Alfred91 started the Neck Pony Nation (a la Raider Nation) thread as a mojo changer due to a two-game losing streak near the end of the 1998 season. (Giants and Dolphins)

Because the mojo change worked and Elway became Super Bowl MVP, the thread became an off-topic mascot of the DPO and site of many a donut race.

The funny thing is, the old DPO would drop a thread when it wasn't posted to in about a week, as it would fall off to the bottom. We wouldn't allow it to fall off, sometimes being saved by a single "up" post during the slow times in the off season. Did I mention the thread lasted 5 years and over 20,000 posts? I personally claimed the 5k donut.

So the NPN thread started by Alfred91 became legend among DPOers, yet soon after that thread started Alfred91 got sick and rarely appeared again, making Alfred91 as much of a legend as the thread

Well, crap. It's not that often that a message thread on the 'net can choke you up. I actually didn't know that this place existed, I went on orange mane a few times and it just wasn't the same, so I just gave the ol' DPO crowd up for lost. It's really great to read so many great things about a guy that most of haven't heard from in years.

'Fiend, you are the best. Thanks for emailing me the first time, not to mention emailing me again with this linky. I have to admit that this hasn't been the best week for me (not medically, just personally) and hearing from you and then reading this thread, well, it couldn't have come at a better time. Thanks again.

As for the NPN thread, I just started it to chap holio's hide and it took on a life of its own. I really take no more credit for it than anyone else.
