Default Forecasting Siemian's Career

For posterity.

I see a Nick Foles type situation where he gets off like gangbusters then fades in years two and three into backup oblivion.

Now tell us what he has done to support your argument.

I honestly don't know what he will turn into or flame out into. He has yet to play any real games to get a feel.

I like the comparison and hope we get the same kinda year out of him, but I think Nick was asked to do a whole lot more than Trevor will. He'll be a full-blown game manager and won't get to put up bigger numbers. His job is not to lose us the game.

I also think he's up against it in our first 3 games..tough schedule.

What I can't really forecast because I don't have anything to go on is how he'll do when all the chips are on the table. People like to bag on Brosweiler but he was nails in the Cincy/NE games...seemed to have it in him to raise his game in big moments. Not a clue if TS can.

He's going break all passing records and make people say "Brady who?" as best late round draft pick.

Just having a little fun. But I do think the lack of league knowledge on the guy will help. Am also pointing out the long history of QBs starting out hot and then coming down to Earth. His lack of ďpedigreeĒ and, well, any discernible history of success at Northwestern makes a Tom Brady-ish or even 1/4th of that very difficult to believe.

Wishful thinking....he gives us a solid one or two years before Lynch take over. More than anything else Iím reassuring myself while the house burns down. Canít believe heís starting Week 1!

Conservative estimate:
He breaks single season records for yardage and TDs while posting a perfect QB rating
Is awarded NFL MVP and Superbowl MVP despite throwing the ball with his left hand in SB just for the lulz
Gets busted in offseason for sending dick pick to every female NFL reporter leading to depression
Becomes crack head and gets sentenced to prison where he rapes Ryan Leaf and Todd Marinivich
Breaks out of prison and changes his identity to Phil Shifley
Signs with Denver and re-gains starting QB role
Goes on to win 10 straight Super Bowls

What type of historic comparisons are even available here, assuming success? Brady was a solid starter at Michigan. Warner, sure, but he’s an alien life-form with a bizarre backstory. Who else? This is all pretty surreal. World Champs on Opening Night being led by....hey look, it’s Trevor from down the street.

Yup, agree completely. Clutch play a humongous x-factor. He did have some nice moments against Syracuse (Iím a ĎCuse fan and remember that very well) and Notre Dame.

The chances of him being in the same jail as marinovich and leaf is basically impossible. Unrealistic!

If he were a WR, I'd argue he is the next Ed McCaffrey.

Yup, indeed.

I looked up Brady, Warner and Bulger and all had pretty good college stats.

Itís very possible that this is COMPLETELY UNPRECEDENTED IN THE MODERN HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL!

He'll be so good that they'll have no choice but to name the stadium after him.

And they'll erect a statue in his likeness to honor him. They'll place the statue on top of the scoreboard, replacing the longstanding Bucky the Bronco statue.

When he's done playing, he'll become GM of the Broncos and lead them to a Championship within 5 years.

I anticipate a career similar to Brian Griese's. My hope is he plays well enough that we trade him for a decent pick and ride with Lynch the rest of the way.

This seems like the most likely scenario.

An Elway/Kubiak deal wouldnít be bad, either. Siemian did go to a top school so heís got the brains.

I think he will be average.

If he can be as good as Bulger or Plummer that would be great.

I think a decent comp for him would be Drew Stanton.

Nick Foles had exactly one great season, and that was only because he ran Chip Kelly's gimmicky offense. That was Chip Kelly's first year in the NFL, by the way. His wacky system befuddled a lot of defensive coordinators.

There is zero reason to expect anything like that from Siemian. Kubiak's system is super conservative, and it's pretty much the opposite of what Chip Kelly runs.

Start a few games, suck, get benched, stay benched. I think he might be able to stick around the league and be a sage rosenfels type backup for a decade but that's his ceiling.

Who knows what he does? But for those who discount him before he's thrown his first pass in a real game, his overall game as well as aspects of his history have some parallels with Drew Bree's. I'm not saying he will be that good, but his physical characteristics, style of play, temperament and football IQ have some similarities.

Aside from breaking every passing record in the NFL and ten Super Bowls, he'll also buy the team and rename the stadium Mile High. In a weird twist, he and elderly Elway will get into a fight after an ugly Tokyo drift race (seriously, John would put you into the wall or off a cliff) and Trevor will kill John with a Trident and then helicopter over his impaled body.

Other than the trident part, pretty kick ass IMO.
