Not looking for a big debate on whether downloading music, movies, pictures of your secretary is bad or not. I just want to know what you use if you do use it.

Looking for features, links, information on what said app does to your pc.

Thank you.

Feel free to use the other thread to continue the debate.

It depends, sometimes I will ask a band to just give me their CD for free, but if they won't do that, I usually just record it off the radio.

Better than that is get your tape recorder out and put a fresh tape in it (preferably 30 minutes per side). Plug in the microphone on side of recorder and then hold it up to the speaker. Been working since 1979 baby!
I will download music on places like MySpace where they want you to do it. I will also pay for it. Rockabilly music is made for the love of the music and no way they get rich. Buying it is the best way to support the music. Clady should know that is also the same for the Blues.

I use uTorrent for torrent files and Free Download Manager for everything else. Not sure if that's what you're actually asking?

If I was the type to look for pirated music, I might use something like Limewire.

uTorrent. Does not take up much space, things run fine with it running. Don't use Vuze, it's a system hog.

What is your favorite brick for car jacking? The old red brick or the newer tumbled stones made from concrete?

uTorrent. Also, avoid limewire like the plague.

It's stealing. But it's one of the laws many of us (myself included) choose to break.

It is called BitTorrent. Download it.

Say you like Elton John because you're a homosexual and enjoy his music. You're too poor to afford it, but you can do this:

1. Go to Google
2. Type in Elton John Discography Torrent
3. Click link, and then download the torrent.
4. You just got a bunch of happy homo tunes.

You can also just go to Google and type in **** like God Is An Astronaut - Mediafire/Rapidshare/Megaupload and most any artists albums can be found in .rar or .zip files. And if you're cool like me, you roll with LUELINKS -- and have access to every type of media in the world. FO FREE.

I haven't used a P2P sharing system in ages, not since college and Napster, so I'm pretty uninitiated. What are the risks with things like BitTorrent? Is there legal liability there? I would assume there is.

I know it's a one in a million chance, but I can't open myself up to that kind of liability or litigation in my line of work.

I have no idea. My internets have 56k, I think it's giving me viruses.

I got Clady's back on this one. Zune marketplace is bad ass. $15 per month (which my brother pays) and you get almost any modern and alot of the classic music for free. No stealing no BS all legit. Even better you don't have to jump on the apple fanboy bandwagon. For all that other happy crap the ipod does I have a smart phone. I want my mp3 player to play music.

And to those stealing intellectual property, grow up. For me that was about at age 26.

Vuze is the best torrent client, IMO, for several reasons. 1, it transcodes videos to be played on external plays(360, PS3) and you can stream directly from the client. 2, its search engine is really good. 3, its video player is as good if not better than VLC.

P.S.
I download music illegally, and if I like it enough, I'll buy and album or two of that artist's stuff to reward them. I do the same with TV shows and movies. I sleep well at night.

I have access to a CD burner and can totally "burn" copies of any music in my collection. Plus I have this really cool printer that actually lets me make labels for the cases using all kinds of fonts. It's pretty awesome but I don't talk about it much because of what happened to Napster.
