Ravens Kindle has to be hospitalized after fall
Sergio Kindle is in stable condition after injuring his head only days before the team's rookies are scheduled to report to training camp, the latest off-field incident for the Ravens' first pick in the 2010 draft.
Kindle, 23, suffered the injury in a house he was visiting Thursday night in Austin, where it is believed he fell down two flights of stairs.
The former University of Texas linebacker has improved the past couple of days and should make a full recovery, according to a league source.
A second-round pick by the Ravens, Kindle will not report with other rookies today when the team's training camp starts. He is expected to be signed sometime this week, according to a league source.
Members of the Ravens' medical staff, trainer Bill Tessendorf and Dr. Andy Tucker, have spoken with doctors at Austin's University Medical Center Brackenridge.
"We understand Sergio is stable at this time and that he is being tested and observed," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said.
Kindle was considered a top 25 prospect after being a disruptive pass rusher in college (16 sacks in four seasons). But he slipped to 43rd overall in the draft partly because of character issues.
He was arrested for driving while intoxicated in July 2007. Two years later, he had a one-car accident where he damaged a building and left the scene.
After being drafted, Kindle said his DUI was "a poor decision on getting in the car after having some drinks."
His explanation for driving into the building was texting and driving.
"It was a dumb move on my part," he said in April.

Sometimes it's like they have a billboard declaring they are trouble.
Taken together, all three of these items would indicate a problem.
People who leave the scene of an accident generally have something to hide.
Glad it's not our problem, and hope hes ok.
