Default Obamas Accomplishments

So far we have a pretty good list of accomplishments by the Obama admin.

He's had enough time and enough policy put through for us to get a decent look at his presidency.

Here's a top ten list of accomplishments:

1) Alienate Europe (especially Britain). From his classy gift to the Brits to start off the relationship to this: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/ Obama is doing his darndest to damage relations with European countries.

2) Tick off New Yorkers. Was it really necessary to suggest trying that piece of garbage in NY? Seriously? You thought that would go over well?

3) Alienate Israel.

4) Put the US in debt deeper than any president in US history.

5) Push through extremely unpopular health care legislation so fast that nobody had time to even see what was in it.

6) Make Glenn Freakin' Beck look like Nostradamus.

7) Make the mainstream media regret not vetting this guy leading up to the elections.

8) Amp up race rhetoric. Instead of being a post-racial president, the Obama admin have focused on race issues more often than they have addressed the economy. In fact, these clowns are using racism as a major campaign talking point. They could set racial relations back years with this garbage.

9) Make the economy worse. Yep. Total failure. They inflated their own jobs created numbers by hiring short term employees for the census and then nothing. FAIL.

10) Make Jimmy Carter look like the second-worst president of the modern era. Yep. Obama is that bad.

Another one is to pretend to make programs designed to help homeowners with under water mortgages, but hardly anyone is being helped with it.

I don't think anybody "doesn't care". It's more that many people don't agree that Obama has "screwed up". Sure, many "liberals" and others aren't happy that more progress hasn't been made on withdrawing from Iraq and that we've put more resources into Afghanistan rather than going the other direction. But neither of these positions are really contrary to what Obama campaigned on. We can argue about the bailouts and TARP and the stimulus but the pundits and economists are mixed on the effectiveness of these measures. We can also argue about the health care bill but again most liberals don't think it went far enough while right wingers are declaring the onset of a communist state if not the end of civilization. And like Afghanistan the health care legislation was a major component of Obama's presidential campaign platform. I guess I'll need people to more intelligently and thoughtfully lay out exactly where and how Obama has so clearly "screwed up" beyond the silliness of the OP. I linked below a quite contrary opinion (from Nov '09) to the "screwed up" spin.

Fortunately, the Repugs have the answer:

Another Bush!

That's right. They are busy rehabilitating the next Bush to put America on a whole "new" path.

What is it with the Bush's and the funny faces?

Furthermore, during the eight year Bush debacle, the rightards on this board were marching in lockstep in their defense of the court-appointed pinhead's every move - saying "criticize Bush = hate America," etc., etc.

Let's review the accomplishments of George Bush after one year in office:

* Cut $39 million from federal spending on libraries
* Cut $35 million in funding for advanced pediatric training for doctors
* Cut funding for research into renewable energy sources by 50 percent
* Delayed rules that would reduce "acceptable" levels of arsenic in drinking water
* Cut funding for research into cleaner, more efficient cars and trucks by 28 percent
* Revoked rules strengthening the power of the government to deny contracts to companies that violate federal laws, environmental laws, and workplace safety standards
* Allowed Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton to request suggestions for opening up national monuments for foresting, coal mining, and oil and gas drilling
* Broken campaign promise to invest $100 million per year in rain forest conservation
* Reduced by 86 percent the Community Access Program, which coordinated care for people without health insurance among public hospitals, clinics, and other health care providers
* Nullified a proposal to increase public access to information about the potential ramifications of chemical plant accidents
* Cut funding for the Girls and Boys Clubs of America programs in public housing by $60 million
* Pulled out of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol agreement on global warming, ultimately signed by 178 other countries
* Rejected an international accord to enforce the 1972 treaty banning germ warfare
* Cut $200 million from workforce training programs for dislocated workers
* Cut $200 million from the Childcare and Development grant, a program that provides child care to low-income families as they are forced from welfare to work
* Eliminated prescription contraceptive coverage to federal employees (though Viagra is still covered)
* Cut $700 million in funds for public housing repairs
* Cut half a billion dollars from the Environmental Protection Agency's budget
* Overturned workplace ergonomic rules designed to protect workers' health and safety
* Abandoned campaign pledge to regulate carbon dioxide emissions, a major contributor to global warming
* Prohibited any federal aid from going to international family planning organizations that provide abortion counseling, referrals, or services with their own funds
* Nominated former mining company executive Dan Lauriski as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health
* Appointed Lynn Scarlett, a global warming skeptic and an opponent of stricter standards on air pollution, as Undersecretary of the Interior
* Approved Interior Secretary Gale Norton's controversial plan to auction off areas close to Florida's eastern shore for oil and gas development
* Announced plans to allow oil drilling in Montana's Lewis and Clark National Forest
* Threatened to shut down the White House AIDS office
* Decided no longer to seek guidance from the American Bar Association on federal judicial appointments

* Pushed through tax cut, 43 percent of which goes to the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans
