Dynamite Monkey
Default Lombardi breaks down the AFC

And shockingly, he thinks quite a bit of this year's Broncos. He listed teams as Blue, Red, Green, Orange and Brown "Chips" with this breakdown...

Quote:
Blue-chip team: Super Bowl contender
Red-chip team: Playoff contender
Green-chip team: Middle-of-the-pack team
Orange-chip team: Improving but still not near the playoffs
Brown-chip team: No chance to win and the year will be a long one
He has us as a Red Chip team

Quote:
Denver Broncos: After a fast start, the Broncos failed to do much in the second half, in part due to their inability to stop the run. In the last three games of the season, they allowed 663 yards on the ground. Over the final eight games, the Broncos gave up 200 points. Bigger, stronger, faster and tougher is now the motto in Denver, on both sides of the ball. Along with being more physical, the Broncos must make deep plays in their passing game to vertically threaten the field. That will open things up for RB Knowshon Moreno, who, if healthy, might set the league on fire. The Broncos remind me of Butler University in the NCAA tournament, a dangerous team that understands the real meaning of "team" gaining confidence with every win.
Good to see some love thrown our way although he has always been positive about the Broncos.

he likes mcdaniels and understands the concepts being brought to this team, one of the only analysts to realize whats going on because he takes time to understand it, not just throw out blanket shock statements like the other idiots out there.

I would take OUT to Chargers and throw the Jets in there as Super Bowl contenders...

Quote:
New York Jets: If Denver reminds me of Butler University, then the Jets remind me of the University of Kentucky. The Jets, like the Wildcats, are extremely talented, with many different egos who might only play together for one year and have the potential to explode at any point during the season. Jets coach Rex Ryan and Kentucky coach John Calipari might not look the same, but they both are master motivators and recruiters who don't mind handling an eclectic collection of players. The question you must ask yourself about the Jets is the same one you ask about Kentucky when you fill out the office pool in March -- can they get past the Sweet 16? I never have Kentucky in my Final Four, so I cannot put the Jets there.
I felt like I was reading a college basketball article though.

The Jets would absolutely walk thru this division.

They need Reavis to run that D tho.

The Jets are an 8 to 10 win team who will offer tremendous and consistent value as a fade all year....Spread & ML.

I haven't seen division odds yet but the AFCE will provide a nice overlay.

Looks like Lombardi respects the Broncos... too bad many posters here don't "get it" but then again, many poster here don't know football.

Lombardi loves McDaniels. He likes everything he's done. I don't agree with everything, but I like most of it and I get why someone like Lombardi would love him.

Yes, he has pretty much been supportive of every move from Cutler and Marshall to Tebow. He definitely shares the system and character approach to building a team and is one of the few national media types who gets the facts straight on the issues rather than just jumping on the sensationalism bandwagon.

Sometimes it seems like Lombardi wants to maintain access and so he sucks up.

While I fully support this regime and what they are doing. I see this team as a green chip team for 2010. We need more experience in system and imo a few more missing pieces to fill before we are a red chip team. I'm not saying we can't end up being a red chip team this year but, at this point I think a green chip is more realistic view of this team.

I don't real think he sucks up so much as he offers a different perspective than many analysts. His experience as a front office executive enables him to see the bigger picture better than some IMO. I think he is pretty much a straight shooter and not afraid to put his opinion out there even if it is a minority opinion. At least he always has his facts straight.
