One time I ordered 7 free CDs from Columbia House, and the next month they just sent me a CD and told me I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. It was TOTALLY unauthorized. I called them and they said something about a postcard... blah.. blah...

Well let me to you they lost a customer that day.... BUT THEY STILL SENT ME 12 MORE CDs I HAD TO PAY FOR.

TOTALLY UNAUTHORIZED!

I didn't sign anything. You have no idea what my history with Directv entails (THEY DO). I'll deal with them and it's all good.

Or checked the "I Agree" box or whatever. Or maybe they even gave it to you free for some reason. You still signed/checked some sort of authorization that would have included the auto renewal provision. I don't need to know your history, they aren't writing up contracts specifically designed only for you, or making exceptions for you regarding contracts/authorizations that they're required by law to obtain. You signed/checked something.

You're being no different than a right-winger stamping their feet saying, "I don't care that a birth announcement and a copy of his birth certificate has been provided indicating a Hawaii birth, Obama was born in Kenya!!" The facts have been presented to you and you've done nothing to refute those facts, just stamp your feet and insist on victimhood. In short, you're Tea Partying directv.

Um, no, I didn't check any "I Agree" box either. Nor did I agree to auto-renewal on the phone (call #11 to try to resolve an issue that was their fault last year). I signed/checked nothing.

Tea Party? Seriously, wtf?

Good lord, just stop arguing with her. She's pissed, she's digging in and whether she's right or wrong it won't matter.

And on the other hand Blue, if you think you're right just stop replying to people...I don't see what this entire thing is accomplishing for either side. I mean so far it's been turned into (and in a very weak-sauced sort of way) sexist and political discussion now.

You're a mod for God's sake...just be the bigger person and move on.

Yes you did. You've either forgotten or are lying in a failed attempt to save face. They have to have some kind of agreement on file by law. They don't/can't just "give" you stuff that isn't outlined in some form of agreement.

Even in my case, last year we moved and got Sunday Ticket as part of a mover's thing for free. The same rules apply, by us accepting that mover's deal, we then accepted an auto-renewal of Sunday Ticket. It's very clearly stated, without question...even if they "give it to you" for free at some point.

I think you can order ST over the phone. In that case they read you a canned script that they insist you say on the phone that you understand and agree. They record the call or that part of the call. Its an easy thing to forget.

Thanks, Rabb.

Whatever else I have to say on this subject will be said to the DirecTv "highly trained specialist" who is supposed to call me soon.

Hopefully you will be kind to the CSR, who isn't at fault for his/her company's well known auto-renewal policy or your clear and obvious failure to carefully read and understand your agreement.

Hey, there are other options besides Directv, right? It's not like I'm locked into a contract.

No doubt, especially if you don't want Sunday Ticket. I hate Comcast on principle which is why I still have DirecTV and truthfully, haven't had any negative issues with them but for me having season tickets Sunday Ticket isn't really that valuable to me.

Now, the woman is a Chiefs fan so she likes being able to watch them every week but that's another story.

If you aren't satisfied with Directv, good luck with Dish or Time Warner. I've been a customer of all three and Directv, imperfect though they may be, is FAR better from a CS perspective.

I hear ya, I have Dish and the trick is to hangup and call back until you get someone who speaks a form of English you can understand.

A person who works on Sundays totally doesn't need the Sunday Ticket. I can kinda keep up with the games at work.

We totally don't need Directv. But they like our money. And that's the bottom line.

If anybody is serious about ordering, PM me and I'll give you my info. If we use a reference we each get $10 off a month for the next ten months.

My earlier post; you are in charge here and have the upper hand. Especially if said person does not reach out to you in 48 hours. I would call, politely complain about your experience and confidently ask what they will do about it.

Again, I got the Sunday Ticket for no cost, $200 visa card and $25 off per month for 1 year. I have been there for 10 years as well and I waited to call until my contract was expired.

Just wanted to add my experience.

Backround: Been with DirecTV since 1995. Sunday Ticket every yr. Several season free after calling, several with a discount after calling.

Today I called and made a few changes to account (cut one of their HD extra packs, and cancelled Sunday Ticket as it showed up on my upcoming charges). Initially when the rep asked why I was cancelling NFL "Pricing? Or just don't use it?" I told him I use it, but the price was just too steep and only ever considered it when they had promotions/discounts.

He offered Sunday Ticket Max for $191.00 (about $50 off price) but I told him it was still too steep, so he went ahead and cancelled it. He asked if I needed anything else and I said I was just curious when account runs out (I believe it is in December this yr). He said they didn't have that info, and would transfer me to someone who could help. (I assume Retention)

That rep asked why I was curious (while he 'looked up my info") and I just said it's always good to know. He was curious if I was looking at other providers, to which I said no, but really only had Directv for the NFL package, and w/out that I'd probably atleast compare.

All said and done: Had to re-up for 12 months, $30 off bill during that period, Free Sunday Ticket with Max this season. Offered a free Genie upgrade which I'll probably call back for (adds another 12 months) but going to try for free Ticket next season to do so.

Was perfect deal for me, as I didn't want to cancel, and have no issues w/DirecTV. I just wasn't going to pay that insane price.

Hope this helps.
