Default Colorado! We're Number One!

1. Colorado, 21.6 percent

What a surprise. The first state to legalize weed also has the highest annual use rate. Colorado was an early medical marijuana state as well, suggesting a Rocky Mountain openness to the pleasures of the herb that predates recreational legalization. Do they like weed in Colorado because it’s legal, or is it legal in Colorado because they like weed? Marijuana isn’t the only popular substance there — the state also ranks first in past month use of any drug other than pot.

Sad. Over 20% use weed. **** won't be getting done in Colorado. Procrastinators Journal will show that Colorado will be #1 but I hear that issue has been delayed again. It is published in Denver.

Its not people that use weed regularly. It's people that used it at least once in the previous year.

You realize that rate is likely higher here in SoCal?

That 14% is absolutely under reported.

I am calling BS, it has to be way more than 21%

Also funny how pot use and other drug use go hand in hand.

The crazy thing is the abuse of all other drugs. You would think the populous would be fine with alcohol and weed yet they still always desire more. Part of the argument to legalize weed that it was supposed to be proven as relatively harmless and not a gateway drug. This data would prove otherwise.

I know you were joking, but we have the third healthiest economy in the country:

Housing prices in Colorado increased 12.7% between Q3 2014 and Q3 2015, the second-highest growth rate among the states and DC. Colorado's 3.6% unemployment rate was well below the national rate of 5.0% and its average weekly wage of $932 was above the national average of $871.

Your lack of statistical education is showing. Say it with me everyone: Correlation does not equal causation. Thats day one stats 101 stuff.

I mean, kids generally drink alcohol before their first puff of grass. In most states its much more readily available inside the household. Omg! Is alcohol the real gateway drug?? What about cigarettes? Surely those come before weed as well right?

Or.... and this is a real crazy idea im about to serve up here so bare with me....maybe there are other driving forces behind this progression from weaker to harder substances aside from the evil found inside marinuana that apparently gives people a taste, no, thirst for something more sinister and terrible?

How about individual factors such as depression and mentall illness? How about environmental factors like problems (abuse, neglect, poverty) within the family? Could it be that the movement from weaker to harder drugs is simply the result of a damaged individual getting used to the initial high and seeking out more? And in this scenario, is weed even a necessary stepping stone or would alcohol suffice in its stead anyway?

My god people, its a plant. Of all the drugs you could ingest, this is by far the safest one and the medicinal qualities and potentials of it are truly amazing when used correctly. If you still think there is some kind of evil lurking within the plant you have obviously never tried it in your life time. And you're stupid.

Only reason I tried it is because it's legal, which took the stigma away for me. I enjoy it, I get the same high as I did with oxy but with none of the side effects.

Crime is up in Colorado. You can look up those stats, but rape is up almost 9 percent. We were also rated by somebody as one of the rudest states in the country.

Well actually, I think psychedelics are even more harmless than weed, and more intense/enjoyable as well. Weed is great though as well; it's the everday/poor man's psychedelic.

But the fact that you can take 100,000+ doses of LSD im one sitting and not die is pretty ridiculous. I'm sure there are other "drugs" that could be considered safer as well, since almost anything can be considered a drug.

I will also say that weed is definitely a little of a gateway drug, in that you realize that the law is incredibly stupid in terms of drugs and therefore you should give others a try based on their own merits and not their legality. So it's a good gateway, and I would say the gate is opened when you decide that you're willing to try weed, not when you actually consume it.

Yeah...I don't get that. Why do people drive up the ass of the person in front (scolding my 20 year-old self). But at my age now...I don't give a **** about getting there 30 seconds earlier.
