Default Monster Squad remake...

Journey to the Center of the Monster Squad
Remake aims Gunns at script.
June 16, 2010
by Scott Collura The remake of The Monster Squad has landed a pair of writers who are familiar enough with family-centric genre pictures.

Heat Vision reports that Mark and Brian Gunn, who are cousins, have been hired to pen the screenplay for director Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious). Cohen also produced the beloved 1987 original, which was directed by Fred Dekker and involved a bunch of kids who do battle with Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Gill Man and The Mummy.

Cohen is producing along with David Ladd and remake factory Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. The goal here is family fare with the potential for the big "F" -- franchise.

The Gunns most recently worked on the script for the Journey to the Center of the Earth sequel, Journey to the Mysterious Island.

To bad the kid who plays Horace is dead. What is it with all of these 80's shows and movies being remade all of the sudden?

Was an awesome movie when I was a kid, I watched certain films over and over again. This was one of them.

Why? Why must they ruin every good movie with a remake (or sorry reboot)? What's next Goonies? then let's ruin The Lost Boys....boo!

I own the original. Bought it from a canadian company that rips VHS to DVD. I think I watched that movie at least 30 times when I was a kid. Not as awesome when I watch it now, but still pretty awesome. Here are few others I'm waiting for remakes on:

Teen Witch
Rad
Thrashin'
Gleaming the Cube

Anyone got any others?

I remember the scene where that girl reveals she's not a virgin (quite inconveniently) and she argues one of the guys "doesn't count" because she didn't like him.

I always liked the montage when they make the weapons and how Sean and his old man kick it on the roof and watch the drive in movie.
