After Thomas leaped to haul in a back-shoulder pass from Orton in front of Goodman, Martindale instructed the defense to keep an eye on him. “We’ve got to cover their new toy,” he said of the 6-foot-3 rookie, prompting a smile from McDaniels. “Cover that tight end wearing 88.” (DB.com)

Thomas should be thankful. Rod is a special role model and receiver.

Truth is the chef at John Elways restaurant go to Rod Smith's hot dog stand to get advice too. The man knows things.

Rod's such a team guy. I bet his hot dog stand includes Eddie Mac's Mustard & Mark Schlereth's Stinkin' Good Green Chile as toppings.

He's built a lot like Rod is/was. Big, physical, tough kid just like Rod Smith was starting out.

Obviously the kid is smart, listen to anything Rod has to say about football or life. He was a class act on or off the field.

If Thomas has half of Smith's work ethic, he will do just fine with his physical gifts.

Rod Smith is the proof that hardwork will get you want you want. He was always about the TEAM and never took his spot for granted. McDaniels wants that type mentallity around his players.

Demaryius needs to listen to Rod and not be a knuckle like Marshall.

I've always admired Rod for his hard and dedication to the game and team.

It's crazy how he kept all his stats from all the practices and never missed a workout.
