Default Why is the world so infatuated with Tim Tebow?

Put aside your feelings as to whether or not Denver drafted him for a moment. Just ask yourself why is a #25 overall pick getting this much attention? Is the world that insecure with his stance as a Christian? Are people just not buying the athletic-white QB? Is it the combination of Tebow and McDaniels (already a polarizing personality in his own right)? What's the issue?

In my opinion Denver took a 10x bigger risk drafting Mo Clarett and there wasn't half this much national attention beyond draft day.

the Denver Broncos shocked the NFL by trading three drafts pick to draft Tim Tebow at No. 25

He was arguably the greatest college player ever
But despite that the popular opinion is that his game does not translate to the NFL level
I think that is why he is getting so much attention, people wanna see if he is gonna flame out or not

Most Running QBs suck at passing. And visa versa. Tebow is above average at running and average at passing. Something the NFL has not seen in a loooong time.

In my analysis of him back in jan, before we were even in the thought of him. I thought he would become a great player. Its exciting because its new and everyone likes new.

Reggie bush- new/exciting
Calvin Johnson- new/exciting
Vick- new/exciting
Palamalu- new/exciting

Tebow is in the same imo.

Tebow wasn't even the greatest QB in the SEC last year. It was Ryan Mallett.

He's on a pedestal right now...some people want him to fail miserably, some want him to succeed.

He's polarizing for the reasons stated before...arguably, greatest collegiate player ever, religious, throws like Bernie Kosar in a wind tunnel, runs like Bronco Nagurski, gives halftime pep speeches like Knute Rockne on Meth.

I don't know what's going to happen, but it sure is going to be fun and interesting to watch. If it blows up, major suckage, if it succeeds, our team just got relevant again.

That's pretty damn arguable. As a passing QB, probably (though his completion percentage was crap). As a team leader and football player from the QB position, definitely not.

It's a sad day when you have to agree with bob.

Most people are drawn to winners - either to cheer them or jeer them. Add to this that he seems to be a genuinely nice, humble guy with a compelling back story and viola!

in the eyes of the sports writers who believe he will never be any good as an NFL QB yes the price is high, but in 5 years if he turns out to be the incredible player many here believe he will be(myself included) the price we paid will seem like a great bargain
