Default OT - what mouse do you have?

Probably more of a thread for the PC gamer then just somebody who surfs, but I'm curious what others have.

I've always been a fan of the Logictech products, for the most part.

I used to have the G500 and that was a sweet mouse but it did fail on me after 3 years. I did use the hell out of it but still expected it to last a bit longer.

So, went and got myself a G9X and I've got to say, this mouse is well worth the $99. It has even more weights then the G500 had but it has some really cool features also. I love the switch on the bottom where you can have your mouse wheel ratchet or spin free. You can really scroll with blazing speed with it. I also like the onboard memory where you can save profiles for different games/apps. Each one has it's own custom DPI setting along with it's own colored LED's. Comes with 2 different snap on outer shells. One for people with big hands that like a wide mouse (like me) and another one that is thinner.

And damn this thing is quiet. You can hardly even hear it click.

I got this baby. It doesn't have a scroll wheel, and the buttons stick sometimes. Also, it smells like cheetoes. And I think there is some sand in the ball underneath it. However, it is very resilient; it has been stepped on a couple times and thrown around quite a bit and still keeps on ticking. I highly recommend it.

You don't game with that do you? Like FPS games? I don't think I've ever heard of anybody playing with one of those.

The MX518, going on probably six years now. All other developments have been superfluous.

I've been cordless since 98 ... couldn't imagine a mouse or keyboard with a cord.

Right now a Logitech model MX620. Rubber sides are great, excellent grip, and it was just $50 I think. Plus the batteries on these newer ones last for months at a time, I dunno how they do it. Bottom gets scuffed up because I don't use a pad and I move around alot - sometimes plug my PC thru an HDMI cord that runs all the way around the room to my TV, then I sit on the couch with the kb and mouse. Stream all kinds of Netflix crap ... sit the kb and mouse on the floor, reach down to click, etc. Gotta have cordless to do that.

Superfluous except for the cordless of course, and the ridiculously long battery life ... with a name like yours, I would think that would be important. Plus this one has a new super-fast scrolling feature ... but I don't use it, it's too manic for me. Maybe just to get past mock's posts

You should really try cordless. Even for desktop use only it's better ... you can pick it up and move it to rearrange papers and other items, whatever. With a cord, you're always tugging, even slightly. People always say there must be "dropouts" with cordless, but in 12 years, I recall maybe a dozen that weren't battery related.

Funny part about this TV hookup ... this new HDMI I have (always had SVHS until recently), as I sit here now I swear the graphics are more crisp on the 46" TV than on the 22" desktop.

I am a southpaw so I have a really limited choice in gaming mice, I run an ambi dextrous steelseries right now because it is so light and has really good sensitivity which I find is important for FPS online.

I use the Logitech version of this, and I game quite a bit. I play World of Warcraft more than any FPS games, and it's great for WoW. FPS it's not too bad, you just really need to get used to it first.

Maybe you nerds should do something more wholesome and manly, like gardening.

I mean, really, a MOUSE thread? Jebus. With pics? Go buy a shovel.

I'll be honest, I didn't know mouse even mattered. Usually I just use my laptop touchpad. If I'm doing something intensive like Zuma, I'll bust out my car mouse.

The Verbatim wireless lazer mouse with recharge dock.

It's not very expensive for a lazer/wireless combo, especially including the charging dock.

I've been using the Logitech Trackman Marble for the last several years, and I like it a lot. The scrolling marble is responsive enough for a light touch, and it fits my hand comfortably.

Interesting that you like the wireless gear so much, Buff. I tried going wireless about 18 months ago. It seemed to make sense at the time: I was going to be laid up by surgery, and the wireless sounded like a great idea so I could read, draw, watch video, or whatever in any comfortable position. Didn't work out so well, tho: I've been using the Logitech Marble so long that it felt really weird to go back to a mouse of conventional shape. The wireless keyboard also had dead spots and really slow response time if I typed at my normal speed. Really disappointing, so I went back to my regular gear asap. Probably what I get for breaking my own rule against buying "Microsoft"-branded gear: I've avoided the M$ brand name wherever possible for at least 10 years now.

For work, however, I did just find a keyboard I've been pretty happy with: it has the split-keyboard ergonomic layout, with two USB ports in the keyboard header. I'd seen keyboards with USB on Macs, but hadn't seen it yet in PC gear. Love it, love it, love it!
