Default Could Favre's decision effect Denver?

Just a thought, but with news breaking today that Favre needs ankle surgery to continue playing. If, and that's a big if, he retires - I wonder if Minnesota would be interested in Orton or Quinn to compete with Jackson. Orton and Quinn aren't West Coast offense guys, but you'd have to think Minnesota would want to bring another arm in to compete. For the Broncos, it'd be tough to keep 4 QBs on the active roster. What do you guys think?

Watching this closely and hoping. Tavaris seems too stupid to run it, but they may feel very good about Sage.

Jackson has all the QBing ability of a stick floating down the Hudson, if Favre doesn't come back they need Rosenfels to step up big time or they need to pull in another QB. I doubt they would make a play for Orton but Quinn might not be a bad move if he comes cheap for them.

Funny thing, as I mentioned before, on my madden online franchise, i drafted Tim Tribow (Ea's version of Tebow) and then traded Orton to Minnesota since Farve retired. If this happens, going to have to see what other weird things happen between madden and real life....

They traded for Sage. He was their QB until Favre signed on. He's probably their QB until they get one in the draft next year.

That said... I believe he was third string, and thus behind Tavaris last year.

Minnesota truly doesn't have their QBOTF yet so they might be willing to trade for a Quinn, but I'm not sure about Orton.

Seems kind of a dick thing to do. Trade a QB you traded for in the same offseason...that aint right.

Yeah, because all the educated guessing on the future on the Denver Broncos is so much more relevant.

I'd feel better about doing that than just up and giving Orton the shaft after he's spent a lot of time getting to know the system and working hard here in Denver.

Bingo. They were joking about this on NFLN this evening. Minnesota, and Favre, have known about the ankle situation for some time. Why is it coming to light now? Because the little attention whore sees NFL camps opening and wants a little limelight. That is exactly what Woodson and Sapp were laughing about. This only confirms he will be announcing his "decision" in late July and not participating in OTA's or coming to training camp until then. He will be there - he loves himself too much not to be. One of my least favorite players of all time.

I would feel better about the Tebow draft if they dumped Orton and just moved on. Dragging it out for another year watching the dude run slower than Paul Konerko will be painfull.

Well it's better to wait until the home crowd just hating the QB to throw in the young put to the wolves.

So if Broncos struggle, when they hit about 4-8 you will see a new QB.

If they stay around 500 or better going into week 10-12, then probably Orton keeps job.

I agree though if Orton not showing us improvement, lets move on sooner rather then later.

Honestly though I think he could go for 3500 again, and 20 tds. It's the sacks he has to cut out. He cant take that many again. I agree it was like those cartoons were the coyote runs, but doesnt go anywhere.

That can't work. Quinn looks terrible in purple.

No.

Orton is the starter at this point, they're not going to trade away their starter.

They just traded for Quinn, they're not going to trade him away.

Tebow, no chance.

Brandstater, why would the Vikings want him?

And spare me the talk that anyone thinks the Vikings might give up any real value for either KO or BQ that would make any trade worthwhile for the Broncos in the first place.
