Broncos re-sign Greisen
By John Clayton
ESPN.com
Archive The Denver Broncos have re-signed linebacker Nick Greisen.

Terms of the deal weren't immediately available.

The Broncos signed him to a one-year contract in 2009, but he suffered a season-ending knee injury in early August. The 30-year-old veteran was an unrestricted free agent.

Greisen has played for the New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos. He has 33 starts during his nine-year career.

John Clayton is a senior writer for ESPN.com.

For a player who didn't even participate in a preseason play for them last year, the Broncos sure like what they saw in Nick Greisen.

The veteran linebacker has re-signed with the Broncos after missing all of last season with a knee injury. Greisen, 30 played seven NFL seasons with the New York Giants, Jacksonville and Baltimore before signing with the Broncos last year and then suffering a season-ending knee out his knee early in training camp last year.

The Broncos could have released Greisen with an injury settlement, but instead put him on injured reserve and rehabilitated his injury with the idea of bringing him back for 2010.

A run-stuffer as a linebacker, Greisen is considered a superb special teams player.

I am curious about the fascination with this guy. I follow football closely and was not familiar with him before the Broncos signed him last offseason.

I was excited to see him contribute last year. Supposedly a good depth/STs guy who played in a similar system. Hopefully he's back to 100%.

He was previously a very solid player...probably an average starter (I don't consider average a bad thing). Interested in seeing how he fares in his comeback.

He was good in 2004 and then again in 2005. This move isn't impressive at all. Anyone that thinks he will amount to anything is kidding themselves.

Ouch. Little harsh, no? I don't think anyone thinks he's a linchpin to the defense, but if he can play ST's and provide some depth, what's the harm? At least worth a look IMO.

A 30 year old (soon to be 31) SP team player coming off a torn ACL. Yeah this dude is money. I don't care who they bring in at this point in time, I just won't think he will help the team in anyway or make the roster.

He's a special teams guy and adds depth at the LBer position.

Greisen is a solid backup who is capable of starting and holding his spot well. Good to see him back. Dont think LB is going to be such a concern afterall with him Ayedele and Haggan along with DJ, Woody and Larsen on the inside. Ayers should be ready to rock and roll and Ayedele/ Griesen can hold down the ILB spot if Haggen has to move back to OLB in case of any injures. Who knows a couple of those OLB/ILB undrafted FQ might pan out as well?

With 19 UDFA I image at least 5 players will stick in some capacity.

Just hope Clady is back asap, but not too soon. We need him 110% healed andready to play at his customary pro bowl level. I saw play Harris on teh left and lette Beadles man the RT spot until Clady is ready to rumble even itf its not until mid October? We dont want to jeprodise Clady's long term future with us by pusshing him back too soon. If it looks like Cladyis goignto be out longer than expected or even a possiblity of that maybewe need to bite teh bullit and bring in Jarad or Flozell? Canalways move them to the RT spot once Clady is100% and back?

Then we'd have two high quality blind side capable guys on both tackle spots and maybe cansee more Tebow packages earlier than expected as well? :-)

Really glade we loaded upon Olinemen in the draft and UFDA. Shouldbe enough from allthat pluswhat we have to asure a stud Oline with guality depth for the next years to come.

Next yearsdraft we do the same with the front 7 and maybe add another stud change up RB and the rebuild is basically complete.
