This whole thing bewilders me. My favorite band in the world right now is Modest Mouse. I don't know if they are popular on the radio or not, I just know that all of my friends must be deaf because they don't understand the brilliance of their off beat sound and ingenius (more than genius) lyrics.
But on a whim - actually it was the fact that I love the Telephone video and the complex symbolism in it - I decided to pick up a Lady Gaga CD and see what all the fuss was about. Holy crap I can't stop listening to the effing thing. I mean - I think she's a musical genius. I'm pretty sure that twenty years from now, she's going to be touring and we'll be able to log onto the Drudge Report and find out that she's preparing for her "I'm 43 and still sexy" tour, with a body of work behind her that will be impressive. My wife thought I flipped my lid when I suggested we get tickets to see her show this August when it comes to Portland. "Are you Ok, honey? You know this isn't those wierdo mouse guys, right? The place is going to be packed with teenage girls and gay guys." And I thought, "that will be absolutely fabulous!" I think there must be some subliminal stuff in there somewhere. I'm not supposed to like pop music... But I.... keep.... hitting.... PLAY! ![]() Last edited by Taco John; 03-24-2010 at 12:27 AM.. |

! I feel the same way but didnt buy the cd. We do have a few songs on a mix cd that my kids and wife listens to while in the car. I always suggest #5 and #13 that are Lady Gaga songs. Catchy and fun to listen to while driving to Phoenix (last trip to spring training). Long ago, i did bye the Spice Girls as I thought many of those songs were very catchy. It is what we call "Guilty Pleasure". Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols used to like Journey when he was banging away in the 70s. Enjoy it. No one needs to know ![]() |

I have a lot of pop in my collection, some of it classic, some of it incredibly cheesy, all of it cool by me. Steve Jones Speaking of the Pistols, did you know that Sid Vicious was a huge ABBA fan? Look it up, it's true...just goes to show you. |

I also believe Alice Cooper liked The Bee Jees. Could be wrong but I swear i heard an interview with him and he admitted his guilty pleasure.

The hooks in her songs are killer. I question my own opinion on this, however. Are they really, or has pop music in general just went into the crapper (see Tik Tok/Kesha) and this is just the cream of the crap?
She's not doing anything overly complicated or innovative, she's just doing the current pop thing in a way that doesn't suck. Add the visual element and she reminds me of Madonna in the 80's before she totally killed it with Vogue. I'm giving her a thumbs up for now. |

I'm not saying they resemble each other, I'm saying they both have a visual element that is considered unique for the time (granted, 'weird' may fit LG's look), which sets them apart from other artists of the genre. |

Ah, denial... the first step to recovery is acceptance. Just accept the fact that you love you some man.

Where I get lost is when people say she has great hooks in the music because from what I've heard and seen thus far, it's just the same old danceclub electro pop with that much bigger visual element. It's harmless enough though, whaddever melts your butter. |

It's a rumor that has taken the Internets by storm ever since she was seen at a concert in the UK sporting what appeared to be a penis under her dress: Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite.
While she has been getting naked for numerous magazines we've never heard of and teaming up on some new songs with Michael Bolton (yes, really), the star has yet to address the accusations that she has both male and female genitalia. Until now. And her vagina is far from pleased. About the hermaphrodite rumors, Lady Gaga told Australian radio station: "My beautiful vagina is very offended. I'm not offended; my vagina is offended." A screen-capture from the concert that sparked the hermaphrodite rumor. "I'm not embarrassed. I sold four million records in six months; I'm not embarrassed about anything. I think this is society's reaction to a strong woman.""The idea that we equate strength with men and a penis is a symbol of male strength, you know, it is what it is. But like I said," the dance-pop diva reiterated, "I am not offended at all, but my vagina might be a little bit upset." |

I honestly think that if Lady Gaga was really a hermaphrodite, she'd be exploiting it to the hilt for all that it was worth.

All-Seeing Eye Symbolism
![]() You only need to look at a couple of Lady Gaga pictures or videos to notice that she is constantly hiding one of her eyes. Most people will simply interpret this as ”a cool thing to do” or a “fashion statement”. Those who have passed the 101 of Illuminati symbolism know that the All-Seeing Eye is probably its most recognizable symbol. The gesture of hiding one eye, usually the left one, goes way back in occult orders. Here’s an explanation of the origin of the Eye of Horus. Horus, the sun of Osiris and Isis was called ‘Horus who rules with two eyes’. His right eye was white and represented the sun: his left eye was black and represented the moon. According to the myth, Horus lost his left eye to his evil brother, Seth, who he fought to avenge Seth’s murder of Osiris. Seth tore out of the eye but lost the fight. The eye was reassembled by magic, by Thoth, the god of writing, the moon and magic. Horus presented his eye to Osiris, who experienced rebirth in the underworld. One thing is for sure: Lady is Gaga for the All-Seeing Eye. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This last picture is very significant. It confirms the fact that the closed eye is used in the context of esoteric symbolism. Her left eye is in her hand, referring to the Hand of Fatima (evil eye). Also, one can’t ignore the resemblance with good ol’ Baphomet. ![]() |

That's wayyy too sophisticated a marketing strategy/campaign for Lady Gaga. She's all about moving mass units and that's it.
So, while interesting, I find the whole MK Ultra angle also highly unlikely. |

Not that I'm any fan of Marilyn Manson but the dude knew how to market an image with some catchy beats. Lady Gaga is the female Marilyn Manson in that regard.

Now, THAT analogy works. Manson goes for "shock first, and then listen to my music". That's what Lady Gaga does. I guess she gets props for her marketing strategy, but that's as far as I go in giving Lady Gaga any credit...
