Probably will be online later - just heard a draft recap interview on 104.3 the FAN. Summary:
why make the trade for 2 7th rounders? we had last 2 picks graded much higher than a college free agent thompson has some return ability, started 52 consecutive games kirlew a tough physical player how was this draft compared to last year? very smooth our draft board was ready in mid january, we just fine tuned it last 3 months 3 day format good - time added on friday morning helped why only 96 players on your draft board? We are limiting ourselves to the type of players who play our system and our mold- tough smart high character passionate about football I've never been in a draft where we ran out of players on our board - through 7th round we still have players on our board why not more defense? because we have alot of depth in front 7. 5 defensive linemen in their 20's all of our lb's except for haggan in 20's lots of young depth in secondary (mcbath, bruton, barrett, alphonso smith, etc) any buyers remorse giving up picks to get tebow? You never 2nd guess what you are doing. we really didn't give up anything from where we started - just gave up picks we had acquired by trading back. we gave up no early picks from next year. we wanted to keep next year's draft intact if we could are you not bothered by tebow's throwing mechanics? when you win 35 games and compete 67% I tend to believe the film rather than analyst on tv he'll work hard does your experience with cassell help you with tebow? it's not about me. 2 way street player has to put in time and effort that's why we emphasize character and work ethic why not just keep brandon marshall? not an investment we were going to make long term brandon and i have a good relationship i wish him the best we added a player (Thomas) who will give a different dimension in passing game, he is not the same player as brandon |

I like what they did in this draft. Traded down a few times to get extra picks, which was smart.

"when you win 35 games and compete 67% I tend
to believe the film rather than analyst on tv" that's such a great answer |

I really like getting two picks in the 7th versus one in the 5th next year. I think next years draft looks lean; we got a couple of guys who are probably better prospects than what will be available in the 5th next year.

I like this draft. A solid B+.
And if Tebow pans out, it will be an epic A+, one for the ages. Didn't like the pick initially, but I guess to achieve greatness you have to gamble. And with 2 intense individuals in McD and Tebow, I wouldn't put my money against them. |

It was pretty fantastic. I would've liked to keep our mitts on another 3rd and 4th to attack a solid 2 down ILB and a another Dlineman, but that's literally my only complaint (along with not being sold on Thomas and the move up to get him). Fantastic work on the whole.

McDaniels says Tebow will only play quarterback
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...y-quarterback/ "He's a quarterback," McDaniels said, per Bill Williamson of ESPN.com. "He's a quarterback. That's all he's going to do." "Like everybody, he will be competing for a job," McDaniels said. "I don't care if a guy is a rookie. If he's earned the job, he'll play. That goes for any position. But I'll say this, he has a long way to go to get there. But he is starting the process." Although McDaniels is open to broadening the definition of "quarterback" enough to let Tebow take some snaps in the wildcat formation if he doesn't beat out Orton and Quinn, he repeated his opinion of Tebow three times: "He's a quarterback." |
